Crude, heavy, homely- and as accurate as most milsurp rifles, capable of killing anything you can find in the lower 48 states. Bunch of these have been released from military storage in the old USSR- they had been arsenal refinished, so wood and metal finish excellent. You can get milsurp ball ammo for DIRT cheap. Yeah, go get one. Or two. surplusrifle.com has lotta good info on them.

I have two; They are great plinkers and quite accurate. If you get the longer rifle the recoil is not bad at all. I don't even notice shooting it. You can plink all day long for 20 bucks.

The carbines have a bit of a muzzle blast but recoil is still not an issue.

I remember when they were wholesaling for $200 a dozen and retail for $40 each or 3 for $100.

I sure wish I had bought up a few more of them.

Yes that is a good price.
What type of Mosin Nagant is it?

A couple years ago we had a gun show here in Asheville NC. Two dealers had crates of brand new M44s. They had cracked the lid off this big wooden commie crate, the crates were packed with brand new Mosin Nagants still packed in cosmoline.
Cost $49 each. Plus, they had many cans of cheap commie Mosin Nagant ammo.
What a bang for the buck.

...the commies had to have taken design lessons from the cheese eatin French, when designing their guns ie; French/Ruskie guns are all butt ugly.

...VERY functional though! (the Ruskies, not the cheesers) IF ANY gun could be a tank, it would be the M44/39/91/30...cant hurt 'em!
Accuracy is debateable, some are, some aren't.
Commies used a raw tree trunk for the stock (some left the branches & leaves on [:D]), and it shows. Fit is not so good.

7.62x54 is one hell-uv-a round...just ask the Krauts.
The stocks, and I say that tongue in cheek, were made with a VERY short lop on purpose to allow for wearing 50 lbs of winter clothing; so the rifles fit bad and feel really wierd.

But considering that the Ruskies were under a monumental attack by the Krauts and had to produce SOME kind of battle rifle in MASS quaunities in a BIG hurry, they pulled off a mirical with these rifles!...and the peppasha (sp/ck)

All that said, I have one of each [:D][:0]
The recoil will kick you back into yesterday
All considered, it, all models are one of histories marvels
Look around on GB and other sites, pawn sh0ps....$50 bucks should get you one...a $100 bucks will get you a laminated stock and arsenal refinished.

Ask get r done, I know he takes deer with one....you know get-r..AKA: Mr ROCK! [:D]

Aresnal refinished means that it went back to the arsenal. Got reblued, checked for barrel wear, may have new wood. IF muzzle is worn by cleaning, MAY be counterbored for an inch or so. Out of spec parts get replaced, etc.

I just bought one for $89.00 and it looks almost brand new. I owned a carbine years ago and it was very accurate but the kick was a little rough. This time I bought the full length. A fun gun. [:)]
