I believe our nations mascot is stalking my dog
For two days in a row when I've let our dachshund outside, a bald eagle has been circling overhead. When I put the dog back in the eagle moves on.
I'm either going to have go out with him several times a day or tie a length of high test wire with a bell to his collar so I'll know when he's gone airborne.
I can deal with the black helicopters, but this is a new one on me.

Used to happen to our old dachshund on occasion. Haven't seen any bald eagles around this house though, and our current doxie doesn't go outside all that often when there's no one else out there. 0 -
You need to adopt a 4 legged friend for your friend....as in a German Shepherd. 0 -

I've got one, with the addition of a Great Dane and a Welsh Corgi. The eagle only appears for the Dachshund.
I guess all the European allies are there with the exception of a French Poodle, but hey it would have surrendered by now if I did own one.0 -
Set a trap. I hear they taste like chicken. 0 -

I'm not sure an Eagle can handle a Dachshund. I have a Miniature Pinscher, which sort of reminds me of a Dachshund with long legs, and when he fights he's a blur of speed and fangs. I think Dachshunds are pretty macho little guys also. If it would manage to kill a dog can an Eagle fly away with @15lbs.? 0 -
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENER dogs.

A lot of baldies around here. I've seen them take fox, jackrabbits, cats, and try to take fawns. My brother had something taking chickens, so he set a trap. The next morning he had a bald eagle, he threw a heavy blanket over it and released it from the trap and it flew away. Dave 0 -
Have patience. I hear that the bald eagle may be removed from the protected species soon. 0 -

What???? I can not see that happening. It is our National bird.0 -
No, our national bird is the turkey. Or would have been, anyway, if Ben Franklin had had his way. Where is Ben when we need him the most??? 0
