I Just Saw a PERFECT, BEAUTIFUL..KILL!!!
...Was outside, brrr. Saw a flock of pigeons flying around, and noticed off in the distance a few hundred yards, a big bird.
...The big bird flew higher and circled well above the pigeons...I could see it was a Red Tailed Hawk. He circled high above the pigeons for a couple of minutes, then folded his wings and went into a screamin' azz dive that would have made a P-51 Mustang pilot jealous!
Bam! Feathers Flew! [:D] The pigeon never knew what hit him! Pigeon and hawk tumbled for probably 50-75 feet with the hawk's wings trying to catch air to slow down...then gathered himself and landed about a hundred yards from me...Lunch!...[^]

In my grandmother's last few months, she derived a lot of pleasure watching the birds around her feeder outside her window. The birds attracted the attention of a sharp-shinned hawk, who preyed on the birds, and finally got them to where they wouldn't come around. If I could have figured out a way to kill the hawk without attracting attention, I would have. After a while, the hawk moved on and the birds returned. 0 -
Allen Griggs is admitting to being a fool. Go back and read my post. All my hunting of predators was done before the protection was put on the Redtail. The Redtail, Cooper and Goshawk are predators, but like Sarge3AD stated they must be thinned from time to time, otherwise they will gobble up all the game birds. It was determined that the numbers of Redtails was under control so protection was installed and from that day I no longer hunted them.
I hate predators, two legged, four legged and those with wings. Humans, among the cruelist entities on earth at least kill their prey before eating them. The hawks and eagles kill their prey by eating them. they sink the talons in and eat them beakfull by beakfull till the prey dies either from blood loss or shock. We hope quickly.
So all of you who believe those steaks and roasts you eat and so carefully packaged in the market grow on trees, don't give me your pious, sanctimonius BS. I have no regrets for any of the predators I have killed. At least I gave them a kinder death than they dish out.0 -
I have a friend 93 years old, lives about a mile from me. He still brags about killing a truck load of hawks. Said it was some of his favorite hunting (has a big game room with 2 elephants). hated those birds with a vengence, says they ruined alot of the other hunting. Bring hawk season back in and Ill go. 0 -

It is pathetic that it makes you feel good to destroy such a beautiful bird.
