I fall down, go boom!
Not long back I lost some toes to my diabetes. It was surprising how much it affected my walking, and I had to relearn my balance. The hardest thing was riding the motorcycle when I had to stop and put my left foot down. Finally I "mastered" the missing toe syndrome and was able to walk again and ride without falling when I stopped.
This week, I was on the road for a few days, and got stopped by the police in Abilene for no brake lights on the truck. Both he and I assumed that it was a fuse, and since I promised to stop and replace it, he let me go. It wasn't the fuse!
Limped on home then got out this morning to try to find the problem. It was the switch on the brake pedal. I decided to take the motorcycle rather than a truck with no brake lights, up to the parts store to get a new one, and the trip went well. That is, right up until I got back home.
I pulled in the garage and put my left foot down. In doing so, it slipped a little and I quickly tried to reposition it. No luck, I slide down and cracked my knee cap on the garage floor.
Got off, set the bike back up on the stand and installed the new switch on the truck. No biggie!
Now, my knee hurts so bad I can hardly stand it. DANG!
So, if you read the registered a small earth quake in Texas, you'll know it was just me hitting the ground![V]

I also swept up the dust on the floor that cause my foot to slip. Once again, bad housekeeping can lead to an accident.
I may have to go get this knee x-rayed. It's hurting and swelling. It was fine for the first hour or so after I did it, but now it's got me a little concerned.0 -
You should certainly do that,....especially being a diabetic.
Don't take chances if it is getting worse.

Had a bit of a fall myself a while back. Damn UPS left a book on my steps that I didn't see in the dark... so at least you ain't hurting alone....0 -

The head is too hard to crack. I did wear knee pads for a few weeks when I first lost the toes.[;)]0
