Japanese beetles.
WOW! I was walking home with a friend today and these things attack you! They eat the plants also. Mom went to buy traps last week and walmart, everywhere, was sold out. COMPLETELY

We need to form an alliance between Godzilla and Mothra so they can battle the beetles before they attack further. 0 -
............and someone should call Yoko Ono, she's famous for getting rid of beetles. 0 -

Had some killing a nice cedar tree in the front yard a few years back
and sprayed it with something (forget what it was)..problem solved.[:D]0 -
...Not sure about those traps, Jacob. I've been using them for years, but even if you put them way far from the yard, I still think that they draw more of the buggers to your general area. They are a feel good measure, though. Dumping out several thousand dead ones has a satisfying feeling. Stink? wooooeeeee!
...They don't seem to bother the garden. Just the roses and the asparagus. They're attracted to the smell of laundry hanging on a clothes line. Have to shake everything out.0 -

Check Snopes. It is a misconception that she gets rid of beetles. She just doesn't let them play together.[:(]
I just gotta believe John just did too many drugs when he met her.0 -

You can thank the DNR for bringing them into the country. That's real bright...bring an insect from a foreign country into a country where said insect has only one natural food (another imported insect), and where it has no natural predators because they probably taste as bitter as they smell. 0 -
I thought this thread was about the Japanese building VW's 0 -

Malathion or "Sevin" are both excellent products to control many varieties of insects. Sevin is probably better than malathion on the beetles, but it can be pretty rough on bees also, so you need to use it with caution.0 -

Yep, they do bite. [xx(] 0 -
My dad and I put some siding and new windows an old house a few years ago. When we took the window frames out, we had to get a garden trowel to remove them, this was in the cold of winter. We must have removed a couple million of those damn bugs from that house. YUCK! [xx(] 0 -
Another one of the charming delights we left behind when we moved West.

Triazicide from Wallyworld. Spray your lawn and vegitation in May (mid-Atlantic) and again in late June. They hatch out from grubs in your lawn, same as "June bugs". If you have moles, the grubs are what the moles are after. This is supposed to be safer than Malathion or Sevin. Never had one attack me, though. 0 -
I quit using the traps because it draws every Jap beetle for miles. Now my neighbor that lives a few hundred yards away uses traps and I hardly have any beetles. 0
