Fred has been to Iowa quite a few times lately, and has visited the Iowa State Fair for the exposure and made his soapbox speeches. Iowa, being the first in the nation with the caucus or primary will determine, for alot of the canidates, who goes on and who drops out. I hope to see Fred go all the way to the White House. I think now we have a canidate that even some of the Democrats can live with, as they ( the Dems) all hate Bush and the Republican party because of the war. Just think of how many of those liberal idiots will vote for him, just because they like his TV show, and not knowing anything else about the man.
Also, I would like to see him pick up JC Watts as his VP canidate. Even though JC is considered a uncle tom to most of his race, I'll still bet he could pick up alot of the black votes. What a neat team that would be.

I agree it would be a neat team...but the blacks won't vote for him. He hasn't been behind any bills giving out free money or whatever. Most black Americans do believe he is a turn coat and is trying to "make" himself white.0 -

+1 unfortunately!0 -
A vote for Paul is only a vote for Gulieoni(sp)in the primaries in my opinion!
Paul does not have the support behind him!
Don't get me wrong, Some of his ideas are good! But without the support he is a lost cause!
Thompson is only a couple points behind Guliani(sp) without even being officially in the running! That tells me right there that he has a legitimate shot at winning this thing!
And he is the best hope we got of defeating the witch from NY via Arkansas!0 -
I'm not committing until the Amazing Jonathon makes up his mind whether to run or not!!! 0 -
as of right now i will be voting for fred thompson. i will never vote for mcain and never vote for guiliani 0 -
I'm looking at Duncan Hunter. I sure like where he stands on the issues, but I don't think he has a chance. Where I stand today,
Hillary = no
Obama = no
Edwards = no
Richardson = no
Biden = no
Dodd = no
Gravel = no
Kucinich = no
Richardson = no
Giuliani = no
Mc Cain = no
Paul = no
Brownback = ?
Romney = ? to maybe
Thompson = maybe
Huckabee = maybe
Tancredo = maybe
Hunter = interesting0 -
Dheff...The more I read about Hunter, the more I like him. I just don't think he has any chance at all of even getting the nomination. I wonder how many of the people running are actually just trying to make enough waves to get the VP nomination, then step into the presidency in 8 years? I can't believe Obama thought he could win. But maybe he thought maybe he could rock the vote enough to get VP under Hillary. Same with Hunter and some of the other republicans running. Hillary, McCain, Edwards, and Guillini are the only ones I can't see "lowering" themselves to the VP position. I don't know. It's early in the morning and my mind is rambling...[:D] 0 -
I haven't seen anything bad on Hunter yet. I doubt anyone is even looking past the top three in the polls, but I look at everyone on both sides. It will take me a long time to make up my mind, but today, Hunter is the top runner in my eyes.[;)] 0 -

I got one of them heavy bastidges, too.0 -

I think Ron Paul is the best hope. Given an A rating by the NRA. 0 -

With some of the stuff the NRA has given thier blessing to here lately I have lost most of my faith in anything they say!0 -
That may be true but his policies are actually realistic and I like how he wants to get back to how the constitution was originally meant for. Plus he wants to get rid of the IRS! 0 -
I'm voting for Fred Thompson! I saw him on TV and he totally put these criminals in NYC in jail. They'd killed this woman on the subway, and Fred Thompson sent this man and this woman to the trial and the ciminals went to jail! And, one time he helped find this Russian sub that was coming to America! I tell you what, Fred Thompson knows about the Soviet navy nd how to deal with it! I'm voting for Fred Thompson! 0 -
mlincoln -- you are too funny and I get your thinking. 0 -

I too got his thinking, but I am not baseing my opinion upon his TV program! Hell, I do not think I have ever even watched it and could not even tell you what program that he is on (even though I do know he is on one of them popular ones)!
I stricktly like his thinking and do believe he will stand firm on his beliefs!0 -

Biden = no
Dodd = no

Giuliani = If he's the GOP candidate, then yes.
Mc Cain = Respect him for his service but won't get my vote.
Paul = Too libertarian.
Brownback = ?
Romney = ?
Thompson = He's my man!
Huckabee = no
Tancredo = worth looking into.
Hunter = My 2nd choice.
Hey, a Thompson/Hunter ticket would be ideal.

I'm not real excited about Fred's announcement, there's more to him than meets the eye. What he says,and how he voted are very different on border policy.

Take a look at who he picked for his campaign manager! [:0]

While I don't know enough about Thompson's opinions to pass judgement, the other top contenders in the race are not conservative. Romney, McCain and Rudy are really conservative democrats in my mind.
Unfortunately. Paun, and Hunter are second teir candiates that are not being considered by anyone. These guys are potenetial VP candiates.
Newt is too much of a loose cannon to be considered a VP.0 -
I have researched Fred's position on Amendment II and can't support him for POTUS. Big government type who is fine with restricting the Constitution. Talks good, acts differently that his spoken positions. Go figure.[V] 0 -
It's between Thompson and Hillary. Who do you vote for? 0 -
I understand some of the "thought process", but I just can't throw my vote away, and essentially help Hillary to get elected.
No matter the bad points,.........and I DO understand, about Thompson, concerning the second amendment, I will still vote for him, unless he turns out to be less than I expect.
I WILL NOT help Hillary become POTUS!
She may anyway, but I wish no part of it.0 -

I would cut off my own nards with a dull set of wire cutters before I would vote for Billary!

Mickey Mouse, or someone who will follow the constitution if anybody that "radical" is on the ballot.0 -
Mickey Mouse won't be on the ballot. You expect perfection. Nobody is going to be 100% to your liking. You have to make the best choice of who is running. 0 -

Uh, I was being facetious with the Mickey Mouse comment. I will probably have to write someone in though.
Nope, I don't expect perfection. There was only one perfect man and we killed him.
I do however, expect that the POTUS should support and defend the Constitution of the United States, not some socialist, globalist, freedom snatching version that is changed to suit the "current trends".
My country, my constitution, my freedoms and my liberties. None of these should EVER be compromised, period. My vote, my choice.
I don't want to get back into the whole "lesser of two evils" or the "our turd is better than their turd" discussion. I recently posted at very great length on that very topic, on this and the politics forum.
My position is clear, my conscience is clear, my course is set[;)]. That course is to NEVER willingly accept less than the US Constitution spells out and to NEVER support someone who espouses contrary views or positions.0
