22-250 for prairie dogs?
Well I seen a real nice Savage stainless bolt gun with a heavy fluted bbl yesterday. Nice gun. Would it be a good prairie dog gun?

Depends on the wind. On a calm day a 22/250 is hard to beat for varmints. Add 8-15 MPH crossing wind and you'd be better off with a 25/06 or the 264. More than 15, go home, load some more ammo and let someone else be to blame for wounding critters.

Hard to argue with the caliber if you otherwise like the rifle.0 -

Savage 112 BVSS- in 22-250 for varmints![:p][^][^][^] I don't have P-dogs out here, but CA ground squirrels
They are just as bad-
For my Rem. 40x in .22-250 a 55gr Blitz king, SPSX, or Nosler Ballistic tip works fine to about 600 yrds, after that it drops like a rock! My .22-250 has a few thousand hides under it's belt, but then ground squirrels around here are like ants, a 400 round day is not uncommon when you find a honey hole.[:D]

I was killing Pdogs last week with a Scoped 22 Magnum.
I prefer 223 over any other but 22-250 should do wonders on them, just more expensive to shoot than the 223.0 -
yes 22-250 is fine for p dogs...hell i shot the biggest white tail buck i have gotten yet with one of my 22-250s yesterday.....one shot @ 125 yds [:D] 0 -

somewhere between Denver and Salina KS is a wide spot in the road that is called Prarie Dog town or something...signs for miles....worlds largest prarie dog...

wull, for all you guys knowledge, you could never shoot out a p dog town to get rid of them they have to be poisoned and that takes more than one time....and they will keep trying to reestablish themselves in an old dog town even if poisoned and none there for several years....if there are dog towns close...ie several miles... 0
