Norton... You guys are right.

MVP
I tried runing my computor with Norton disabled and it runs like lightning... Turn Norton back on and notice a significantly slower boot/run time.

    Kaspersky does have a very high rating,.......but I am cheap (frugal), and mainly don't visit many dangerous sites.
    I use Avast AV, along with Ad-Aware,.........both are free.
    All I can say is I have used them for years, and have never been infected by anything.
    If you are going to uninstall Norton, don't forget to download the removal tool. It spreads crap all over your system, and a simple uninstall will not remove it all.
    I posted the link on another thread, but can find it again in a few.
    If you do a lot of dangerous things Kaspersky may be worth paying for,.......just not for me.

    Some of the slowdown will depend on how old your comp configuration is, but I have always taken Norton off my systems right away.
    You might want to try AVG free also if you find Avast slows you down.

    Ad-Aware does not affect your system resources, as you run it when you want to check for Spyware.

    I tried Norton once, early 1990's. It cost me almost as much as my computer, destroyed everything else I had on the computer, couldn't be uninstalled without help from Norton, who wouldn't give me a refund either way. The final solution was a reformat of my hard drive, which I gladly did, and I wouldn't put that piece of crap in my computer again if you paid me enough for a new one.

    norton is a virus fars i am concerned its on my lap top and i have yet to figure out how to uninstall it....any ideas

    Go here. This will download a removal tool from Symantec to fully uninstall it.
