Another AR question.

Semi-auto only lowers have a sear block which prevents use of an auto-sear and other full-auto internals. The absence of this block in preban ARs (green label and prior) accounts for their popularity, and premium price. Of course you can remove the block on a post-ban lower in minutes, for which you would likely get years.

COLT'S firearm company started putting a block in their lowers quite some time ago. This block apparently made it impossible to change over to a full auto. I am not aware of anyone else doing this. I guess they could just "not" mill out the space where the block is installed.

also unless they were manufactured as such, you can't (as in, not supposed to) convert a semi-auto to full auto. hence, "semi auto only".

but since 99.99% of the lower receivers you will come across were manufactured as semi auto, that should be assumed, and the seller only needs to say something when it IS full auto. irregardless of whether it currently has semi- or full- components in it.

so, what he said was a moot point. he must have felt like making it clear.

Full-auto lowers also have an extra hole drilled for mounting the auto sear.
