Work slow down......... sad

Welp they anounced today, that startin next week there will be no OVERTIME. All temps must leave, will work only 40 hours, and there will be some shut down days for the month. Guess there is definetly a slow down in the truck market especially diesels. Oh well do need a break from 70-80 weeks. I may have to sell some guns to finish the garage ......boohooo

    "Guess there is definetly a slow down in the truck market especially diesels" ...... I build diesel trucks, over 1/3 of our workforce laid off and working week on / week off ..... you could call that a slow down.

    Back around last Christmas when I stayed home to give my trash man his Christmas tip I commented that it appeared that he had a new truck, because his old one had been looking a bit tired.

    "It is just a new body and they painted the cab", he said. "It still has the original frame, driveline and power plant". "We have already done this rehab to three other trash trucks and are looking at doing two more".

    I asked him why and was told that cities, counties and state agencies here in CA are not being allowed to purchase new diesel powered trucks (excepting emergency vehicles) as part of the State mandate for a conversion to alternate fuels (CNG or LNG). This has to be hurting truck sales in California and no doubt has had an impact on new truck production.

    The new emissions laws are the culprit. Heil Environmental in Fort Payne Alabama is having their worst year ever.

    Those companies building the new Armoured Vehicles for Iraq are crying for employees. Force Protection in South Carolina is paying $25 an hour and $1000 a week per diem for contractors. 84+ hours a week.

    i have been looking for a used ford crew cab diesel for a while now and in my town is one of the larger ford dealers......and they are not moving pickups...the same used ones have been there for quite some time.......nobody is trading for new ones..... he normally sells a pile of new ones
