Question for Nunn and other LEOs
We are flying down to Ft.Worth next week for my Brothers wedding. Mrs Blue joggs and would like to take her little mace sprayer and holster. Are there restrictions on mace in Texas, assuming that she can even pack that in checked baggage... Or can she buy something at a local shop when we get there???? I WONT let her jog without our sheperd or mace (preferably both - since she won't carry - "It bounces too much to carry a pistol"[V]).

I am an avid reader. I would love to know which author/s gets being a cop right. From a cops perspective, which author/s seems most real from your perspective. 0 -
Mace is just liquid CS (tear gas). I wouldn't give a nickel for a truckload of it. To quote from S&W's factory training, "May not be effective against persons who are highly intoxicated or under the influence of drugs". Well, who the heck are you most likely to need it for?
OC ("pepper spray") is an entirely different animal. It's jailhouse nickname is "Git Right", because it'll make you get right in a hurry. Good stuff.
Yes, it's legal to carry in Texas.0 -
Better check with the Transportation Safety guys. It might no be legal to carry on passenger aircraft in your luggage. 0 -
i dont think youll be able to carry it on the plane or in your luggage. 0 -
I call it mace but she does carry the "Pepper Plus" spray. I need to get her a new can anyway - this one is 2 years old, but still test fires ok... 0 -

Says right on there no pepper spray!0 -
Thanks for the link - It does say under Martial Arts/Self defence that you can have pepper spray in checked luggage as long as it has a safety device... 0 -
Like the guys said- stick to the high percetage OC pepper spray, and buy it at your destination. A can of that leaking aboard a pressurized aircraft will get you a first class introduction to the legal system. 0 -
Most anything that may be questionable for carry on, can be mailed to
the final destination without worry.0 -
Last time my wife flew (last Oct) she could have pepper spray in her checked baggage (legal as far as TSA goes) but the airline's(AA) rules said no. Check with your airline. I think some do allow you to check it. 0 -
No aerosols of any type are allowed on aircraft, let alone OC.
You'll find tons of places to buy in FW and before you head home just gift it to someone. It's worth the few dollars it'll cost you.0 -
That's what I thought TXS - I'll just give it to my Mom when we come home. Hey where are any good shops around Benbrook area to at least look at some firearms - I'll take my Brother shopping away from the girls[:D][:D] 0 -
I haven't lived over that way in many years and am out of the loop on their best gunshops nowadays, but I'm aware of a few places you wandering around.
Cheaper Than Dirt is located up on the north side of Ft. Worth. They always have good deals on ammo/acessories, etc.
Cabela's is also up north, but way up there. It's probably 25 miles or so from Benbrook.
If you have time to kill waiting on a flight, Bass Pro Shop is not far outside the north entrance to DFW airport. Your wife will even like this place....seriously.
Here's a map for you that shows some of the area gunshops.
