Army testing new sub-machinegun.

Received a link from Mil.com. The Army is testing a new sub-machinegun manufactured by Transformational Defense Industries Inc. It's called the KRISS Super VT , in a .45ACP. They have seriously reduced recoil in this weapon. Pretty neat weapon. Here's a link to tell more about it.

Sounds as if they may develope a semi-auto version for public use.

    In the end of the video there is a part where he is shooting the Super V on the top half....and the HK on the bottom for comparison.

    Note that the HK has all it's smoke coming out the barrel....and the SuperV is smoking where it poohs the empty brass out.

    I'd take the HK.

    They tested that on Futureweapons a few months ago. Looked good, recoil was very mild.

    A low recoiling, small light subgun in 45 is a good thing.
    Having a 3-4" line of sight above the bore axis isn't.

    It has an interesting layout. It both shortens the overall length and reduces recoil effect by redirecting a portion of the bolt impulse. It'll be interesting to see if this design can be applied to firearms besides SMG's.

    i think the show Star-gate SG1/Atlantis use that, its a nice peace. wounder when it comes to the civilian market

    They use the FN P-90 on SG-1.

    I was going to say that Rosie. It is like an inverted toggle system on a Luger with the moving parts contained in the body of the gun.

    My thought too, but I'll bet their patent attorneys would argue otherwise if anyone tried to produce a firearm with a "toggling bolt" right now!

    The BAR has a toggle action, only it fires from an open bolt.
    Incidently Hugo Borchardt used the system prior to Geo Luger's modification to the Lugers we're familiar with.

    I don't remember being propelled backwards when shooting a Thompson or MP5. Good acting? Hmmmm..

    The only real positive I saw was the longevity of the prototype, but the numbers used were unclear. Otherwise it may be a good weapon with little or no use. Maybe useful around sensitive storage where penetration must be minimized.

As a subgun instructor I can tell you that keeping the feet parallel, upper body relatively erect and shoulders squared to the target during sustained fire with an MP5 will shove all but the largest shooter back noticeably. When using sustained fire from a Thompson with such a stance, even a monster of a man would be rocked back to the point of having to readjust his footing before the mag empties.

    I noticed they both used this same crappy stance with the KRISS but recoil appears minimal. No way you'd hold such a group at 25 yds. with even an MP5 using such a poor stance.

    BTW-Ever fired a Thompson with one hand? That one-hand firing demo with the KRISS shows that it's controllability is in an entirely different league.

    It's ugly as sin, but appears to put hits on target more efficiently than other designs. There it is.
