Although at least that means that the gun control crowd can't blame the shooting on "lax" gun laws, since those only affect the lowly citizen and not the police.

It was a "crime of passion",......those situations can happen to anyone, I guess.
I personally would let it go.

The penalty thoughts do not set in, until the deed has been done, through a haze of "rage".

Yep,.........my def of a "crime of passion" stands.
The "cop" was only 20, and it was an ex-girlfriend,..........supposedly a love triangle, so that accounts for 2.
When a person decides to kill over this kind of garbage, why do you think they would not kill everyone that was available?

Each state is allowed to set their own requirements. Each agency within these states is also allowed to set their standards higher than the state mandate.
Wisconsin only requires they be 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma, pass a 560 hr. academy and earn an associates degree within five years.
No felony convictions (unless pardoned) are a allowed, but the only misdemeanors that are an automatic disqualification are those involving domestic violence.
No psychological exam or polygraph is required to be licensed.
As bizarre as it sounds, you don't have to be a US citizen to be an LEO with any of their state level law enforcement agencies, a Chief of Police or a Sheriff.
So much for northern states talking trash about southern law enforcement. My state's requirements are much more stringent than this.0
