Wrong House Stupid!!
...Just on the news. Over in Dallas early this morning 4 armed guys were breaking into a house. The owner grabbed his gun shot two ([^][:D]) that were hauled off by EMT's...a third was arrested at a hospital after showing up with gunshot wounds, 4th guy is still at large. The homeowner was not injured...I just love stories with happy endings...could only have been better if he could have killed all 4 of the slime...[^]
..And, they were slime. ANYONE breaking into a home at night, WITH a gun, is likely and does not care if they confront and kill anyone. The punks that dont want to hurt/confront anyone break into homes during the daytime when they are less likely to confront anyone...[;)]
GREAT JOB MR HOMEOWNER!!

Perhaps in TX but not in CO.
Colorado law specifically prevents those injured during the commission of a crime from filing suit or collecting damages.0 -
"Ah, but if they deon't die, they can likely sue his arse," .. THIS HAPPENED IT TEXAS, THEY WILL PROBABLY CHARGE THE PUNKS WITH ATTEMTED MURDER (EACH OTHER)FOR GETTING SHOT WHILE ILLEGALY BREAKING AND ENTERING. 0 -
I think Texas has a castle doctrine. (just passed?) 0 -
I think the 4th guy was still running down the interstate and passed a Camaro. 0 -

Doesn't go into effect until September from what I've heard. I still doubt anything will happen to the home owner since we are talking about Texas and all.0 -
I think Mo. has that castle doctrine in effect also. It best, because I would've acted as if it were anyway. 0 -
...Yeah we passed the castle law...but don't know if it went into effect immediately as many do, or will at a later date...but at least we have it!
...Hell, they just showed some poor elderly woman, like 80 or so, that was pulled from her car and beat and had her car stolen last night I think...she's doing ok though.
...I hate the these cowardly slime bag puke azz punks, and I REALLY hate the ones that pick on the elderly!
...Damn good thing I was not there to see that chit happening or Id been telling the cop "sir, I don't know why I shot him 7 times, I don't remember anything after the first shot officer", damn the lawsuit!...[xx(]

Here in washington, you still have to kill what you shoot in you home or get sued. 0 -

Just finish them off with frying pan and claim they fell awkwardly.0 -

Yes, officer, I guess he was a klutz.0 -
In Illinois, arrests would be made. Jesse would show up. Daley would have a rant and Gov Blago would fly in read from his index cards, then go back to the Green Zone of Chicago. 0 -

The bill was signed by the governor; however, it has not taken effect yet. August 28 is when when the Castle Doctrine becomes law in Missouri.0 -

Sounds good so far, but I'm interested in hearing more about the homeowner.
It's far from a ghetto area, also not a major fat cat neighborhood. For some reason four guys with AK's picked this particular home to bust in on in the middle of the night. Sounds like they expected to hit a good lick there.0 -
In Texas? Those punks got what was coming damn the Castle Doctrine. This flies under the common law, "Some folks just need killin'" doctrine.
It would be hard to find a lawyer who would take the civil case against the homeowner in Texas, and even harder to find a jury that would give them a dime.
Thieves, murderers and child molesters get the big thumbs down from juries in my beloved state.0 -

+1 spanielsells! Same here in Montana. [^]
I remember the family members of the famous BofA bank robbers filed against Los Angeles. What a crock! That type of thing doesn't surprise me when it comes to California. Their laws are likely the worst in the country. [:0]

But they were such nice childred growing up. [;)]0 -
Nobody seems to be very familiar with gang land/prison code. I guess you're lucky. I wish I lived where you do.
A homeowner who gets the best of a robbing crew, doesn't get in trouble with the police and doesn't get sued is especially frowned upon by the surviving gang population.
Trash thrown into the yard from passing cars is the least thing. A few bullets thru the house, force them to pack up and move...that will teach them to not resist anymore.

News reports say these four were armed with AK's, which sounds like a pretty large and well armed crew for a run-of-the-mill home invasion robbery. There also haven't been reports of any similar incidents occurring in the area.
So far nothing actually says this was a robbery attempt of joe-average citizen and not a "business related" hit or kidnapping gone bad. All we know at this point is these guys showed up at this house in the middle of the night loaded for bear and ended up getting shot up by the resident.
Further info is needed here.0 -

It's the "run-of-the-mill home invasion robbery" attitude that kills me! Is everyone supposed to just accept it as common run-of-the-mill fun?
It has happened to some very good, decent people here. Criminals have more rights than the victims do around here.
Agreed, we had an old guy in Cleveland shot two punks trying to get on his porch to rob him. At least one had a gun. One died the other ran off. Neighbors of this old guy threw rocks at his house and tried to chase him out of the neigborhood for killing a young (16) kid who was a good boy.0 -

My point was that this incident has some unusual factors. By "run-of-the-mill home invasion robbery" I was referring to normal patterns observed in these type offenses.
This misunderstanding makes me glad I didn't just say it doesn't pass the smell test. [:D]0
