I know what you mean, fresh cut hay and the smell of growing corn always take me back to my childhood memories. Best fragrance on earth.

Used to cut and bail hay as a kid. Now everyone uses big round bailers.

I hate the smell, it meant that I would be bailing in a day or two at which point my allergies would kick my butt just as bad as a 1000 80 pound bails.

I put up 150 acres this year, but it is hard to smell setting in and AC cab pulling a roumd baler. We use to put up 7000 square bales a year and I sure don't miss the smell as I got enough to last me a lifetime.

Yes. I just recalled the smell the other day remembering putting up hay for .01 bale for days and days at a time. Then the farmer forgetting how many loads we put in the barn... not to worry mr. farmer, I stacked bales over here to indicate how much work we done.

Got all the round bails cut. Now are putting up square bails (about 1500) up in the hay-mal.

I sold my baler in the early eighties and my wife said as it went over the hill, "You're going to miss that baler." You know What?

    She was right![:D]

Did my fair share of that as a kid..every summer. Best part was jumping in the creek at the end of the day.[:)][:)]

I always dreaded putting up hay.Working your butt off in the heat, wasp and snakes in the barns but it was something that had to be done.

I hauled a lot of hay in High School. Sure helped get you in shape for 2-a-day football practices in August.

I agree there is nothing like a dip in a cold creek after 12 hours of throwing hay bale's. The only time my dad would let me have a beer growing up was after we got done haying down by the creek where mom couldn't see us.
