Both links worked 4 me. Those "bright" spots, look to me like the bluing is rubbed-off.Those aren't protected from that kind of shipping wear[?]

You are correct, the blueing is gone and it appears the factory protection was not sufficient. Of course, it has been twenty years since the firearm left the factory. RJSnow 0 -
got one not unfired but rechambered to 444 marlin...not many of this caliber made???? 1972 to 83 then serial no's mixed with #i till discontinued in 87...sounds like OK price...nice smaller single shot to carry in pickup...444 reloaded 265g flat point at 2300 drops deer like a kenworth on interstate 0
