more stake-out work
well last thur nite we got hit at the city edge wash, the one with the on-going trouble with gangs and wanna-be's.
s.o.b.s got on the roof got in through the exhaust vent for the big boiler, 16" is plenty big enough for their skinny butts.
anyway, after entry they dis-mounted and stole the ENTIRE CHANGE MACHINE!
between cash, change, the changer itself and damage to property will probably run over $7,000...that is a big bite out of a struggling company and a real threat to my paycheck!
have been doing drive bys at odd hours between 23:00 and 03:00 as well as a couple hours sitting in a small stand of trees behind the property since hopeing to nail them if they come back after the second machine while there is just plywod over the opening...doubt i'll get that lucky tho

I have a friend that had problems with thieves breaking into his change machine at his car wash.
He devised a system that used a vaccuum cleaner and sucked the money put in the machine into a safe that was hidden inside and buried in concrete.0 -
Could've been worse. In my area they're prone to hooking a chain to it and yanking the entire changer out of the wall with a vehicle. Besides losing the money and the changer you basically have to rebuild the front of the building.
Even an alarm system isn't much protection against this. They're already headed out as it trips.0
