Local town nicknames
We all have nicknames for the town next door as we look down on them.
Earlville = Squirrel or Earltucky
I like Earltucky. Kind of a white trash town.
Granite City is also known as Granite Shcity. Guess you can apply that to any town that ends with "city" but it particularly applies to Granite City.
Wedron has different names for different parts of the town, including "Boogerville" and "Whiskey Hollow". Unfortunatly that what the people in town call it, and it's not that big of a town. Population 500 maybe.

st. john= jackass flats....where less is more, time stands still next to the edge of the earth, & they roll up the streets at 8 pm...big excitement is watching tumbleweeds roll thru the square while listening to jake brakes on the highway...used to have tall curbs around the square till city lowered them leaving no place for our wino to rest... had an ordinance against jaywalking but the bird left, so it was rescinded...courthouse has 4 floors & county built an elevator at more cost than whole original court house so you can ride to 4 but nothing there & doors are locked...at least you can ride back down....built a new church so i guess there is still enough sin to go around...used to have a cowboy ride his horse to the bar but police stopped him... no taillight...he asked them to show him where to plug it in...homeland security assessment said not to worry about it 0
