Jim Zumbo of Outdoor Life is way off base

Mr. Zumbo is way off base. To equate a particular rifle to "terrorism" and then by extension infer that anyone who owns such a rifle is a terrorist shows he is not in touch with many in the shooting community and is grossly irresponsible. Mr. "Traditionalist" would be shocked to see me shoot in one of my favorite sports, tactical rifle.

I hope he is deluged with responses to his article.

  I respect everyones right to own about any kind of firearm. It is a lot of fun to shoot an AK, AR or mini-14, but.....I too don't like the idea of hunters roaming the woods with a 20-30 round mag in a gun designed for offensive battle.
  
  It is the perception to the public that will have a major impact on the sport of hunting. Take your AK to the gravel pit, to the range, your favorite spot and bang away. To use them for huntng will cause major problems among the less savy among us, which I am sorry to say is the majority.
  
  If this continues It will be a very short time before every state in the union outlaws semi-autos of all kind for hunting including the semi-auto rifles designed for that purpose. This is my humble opinion.
  
  I do agree that folks that are part of our gun community should keep their personal opinions to themselves and never suggest that certain firearms should be outlawed, just because they don't like them.[V]

  States like South Dakota allow AR-15 style rifles for hunting purposes just like they allow the Remington 7600 or the R1 semi-auto rifles. However, South Dakota limits the magazine capacity just like many states limit shotgun tube capacity for waterfowl and upland game.
  
  Why play into the hands of the ignorant who don't recognize that the end result of a fired .223 Remington cartrige is the same whether it comes out the muzzle of an AR-15 or some other "sporting arm"? Why not fight the ignorance instead? Stop playing into the hands of the crowd that wants to ban our guns for the way they look.

  My reply to his anti-gun blog has been posted and an email sent to Remington, alerting them to his B.S. and also on how thrilled I am that they are sponsoring him to preach such nonsense.[:(!]

  Most people that hunt with ARs aren't taking a 100 rnd drum out with them. Sounds like that ignorant sob wouldn't care what they banned as long as they left his rifles alone. Wow. The guy's completely out of touch with reality.

  I use to have respect for you Jim Zumbo, but not anymore. Calling AR type guns terroist weapons is exactly what the antis want to hear from supposedly a sportsman and 2nd ammendment supporter. I own a variety of fine firearms and what I choose to hunt with is my RIGHT, whether I hunt with a single shot or a 30 round clip fed rifle. I am ashamed of you and hope that Outdoor Life and Remington reconsider their relationship with you. Remember the dark days of Smith and Wesson when they were run by the wrong people.

  Here in Orygun the maximum magazine capacity a rifle may have WHEN HUNTING is 5 rounds. I have been told that is a crime to even have a larger capacity magazine with you. Any type rifle is OK.
  
  I don't know if that is true for rimfires.
