"I have again introduced legislation to permanently ban assault weapons. These weapons have no practical use. They are not used by hunters for sport or by individuals for self-defense. They are intended to kill as many individuals as possible in a short amount of time and have no place on our streets. The unfortunate situation in Philadelphia could have been avoided if Congress stood up to the gun lobby in 2004.

In red above. I have never seen any "assault weapons on our streets." Had I seen one, I would have stopped and picked it up. Anti-gun liberals love that term. Just as when a citizen overcomes a violent criminal who is armed with a gun (usually the citizen also has a gun and uses it well) the anti-gun media loves to say that the "citizen wrestled the attacker to the ground" or the "Citizen tackled the criminal". The media absoutely does not want to say the citizen used his legal firearm to overcome the attacker.0 -
I'm not done yet. One more thing.
"It is vital that the background check records are current and comprehensive. I have introduced HR 297, the NICS Improvement Act, which would strengthen the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. These records let gun dealers know when an individual should not be allowed to purchase a firearm. Improving the quality of these records will keep guns out of the wrong hands and make our country safer."
OK let me get this straight. These people think "THE PATRIOT ACT" is terrible. These people think it is wrong for the government to investigate probably terrorists within the United States. These people think it is wrong for the FBI to investigate the book purchases or library records of terrorists in America.
These people think it is wrong for the National Security Agency to listen in on conversation when known terrorists call their connections wit in America, but yet Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy WANTS the government to keep more records and more information on law abiding citizens because they own a firearm.

There was that guy here a couple of months ago that found a rifle in a case on an interstate ramp. I don't think it was an assault rifle, but it might have been a black composite stock.0 -

The saddest thing about McCarthy is that she's in the Congress only because her husband was murdered by a lunatic. She was elected on name recognition from the news and sympathy. And what has she done in Congress? Well, let's see. She supported gun control. And she supported gun control. Now she's supporting gun control.
