Shot my new Five Seven today
This gun is excellent, and I am glad I spent the money on it. As people say, recoil is like shooting an air gun, and is great for quick shooting. I used the ss195 rounds today, and the only thing I did not like was the large flash. Gun worked perfectly, no jams, just had some trouble with shooting off to the left a bit. I did not think it was me because I never have that problem with my Beretta, so I figured it was the adjustable sights, which I was not used to having. So I just got home and sure enough the sights were off. Now that they are straight again I have to go back to shoot some more. Still can't show any pictures, my memory card reader is not working, so maybe later. If this gun had night sights I would start carrying it. The magazines took forever to load too, but they also took forever to empty, which is a good thing. The magazine being needed in to shoot took some getting used to, but I am looking forward to shooting this one some more.

I have noticed that people are "investing in" that gun some because there is a rumor they will ban the gun....or ammo. The good ammo is nearly impossible to get (the first stuff they released) and is SUPER expensive! 0 -

Is there something wrong with the ammo that I should know about? I also have some ss197, but I just brought the ss195 to start. I also forgot to mention, I try to save my brass but I found that most of it flew out into the range in front of me rather than behind me like my other guns. That makes saving them hard. Did not have to worry about getting hit in the face though.0 -
Anybody shoot the PS90? I want one now to match my FiveSeven. With recoil being so small for the handgun, I am willing to bet that you could hit anything you want with the PS90, and be able to do it all day without getting tired. 0 -
I've had fun with mine, too. It's amazing how much damage that tiny bullet will do. At first, the only reason I got it was because of the look on Chuck Schumer's face when it was mentioned to him. I'm with tobefree - it's one of my favs, too.
Locust Fork, the "good" ammo is the SS195. It's available for less that $20/box. The original SS192 was not lead free, and it had a bullet designed for penetrating body armor - pretty much unnecessary in my book.0 -
I have examined and shot 3 of those little jewels.
Each showed signs of excess pressure on the brass...one to the point that I fired 3 rounds and quit...expecting a blow-up of the gun.
The brass shoulder was blown forward nearly .100...
The others showed primer flow..the primer actually smearing across the base of the case.
The signs indicated poor chambering at the factory...the kicker being the factory rep said 'nothing wrong with the gun'..
I decided I did not need one.0 -

It is a super flat shooter. My buddy and I busted melons @ 80 yds unaided last summer. Comes wiht 3 twenty rd mags. And if may well just as hopped up as most of those 57 Chevy's are! But you can have one for 1/35th the cost.......0 -

Yes, the SS192 is the hollow point. The SS190 is the original ammo (still available to military and law enforcement) designed to defeat Level 3A body armor.
There were some people (anti-gun crowd) who did testing with the SS192 and found that it could defeat Level 2 armor. There were threats to ban the gun and ammo so FN voluntarily stopped selling the SS192.

They said that the ss195 is the same as the ss192 except it is lead free. Anybody know what happened to the ss196 with the red tip? I got some about a year and a half ago and all I can find now is the ss195 and ss197. Can't find ss196 anywhere.0 -

The "sights" are set so low that you literally have to crawl along the stock to get your head down low enough to use them! True, it's a tackdriver, and true, there's hardly any recoil; but the ammo is 3 times what 22wmrf is, and the gun itself is so short that handling suffers. Just can't see blowing that much money on something that would be confiscated as a "cop killer" in a coupla years.0 -
None of my distributors have had any 5.7x28 ammo at a deal for months now. The last that I bought was $18 a box and went to $21 a box overnite! The ammo I was asking about I don't know the details of....but I know it isn't available at all. It was around when the gun first was available to the civilian market.
The ammo I am speaking of lasted about three months before it just "went away"....I think pulled by the manufacturer for fear of lawsuits.0 -

I've only put about 200 rounds down range, but the accuracy is un-beleivable. Front sight is a little obnoxious, but I guess you could use it as a tomahawk if you run out of ammo.0 -

Closest I ever got to that was a Colt 1911A1 full length in .38/.45, which was fairly popular in the late '60s. It was a .45ACP casing, necked to .357 and the slugs were standard 125 grain .38 Special jacketed hollowpoints. Clocked just under 1600 FPS, and was a real ray gun.
Sure would like to try your 5.7.

That .38/.45 sounds neat and probly brings a good price right now. I forgot to add one of the advantages is the 20rd Mag standard, and with extension makes it a 30rd mag! and 2300+ FPS 0 -

I have two with consectuitive S/N's. I love them. Only shoot one. Bought 2 cases of 195 before it got out of control (as most everything is anymore). No, I'm not planing on selling anything right now. I'll wait until a few months after the 08 election! 0
