Need some help, music buffs
I am going to put a couple CD's together for the parties we are having. They should be PG-13 at worst, popular songs, stuff with an up beat and a god rythym.
Stuff like....
Sammy Johns - Chevy Van
Bob Seeger - Night Moves
etc.
Gimme some imput, the more the better

Here's a few from an old guy:
Bob Seger - Turn The Page
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Dave Matthews - Gravedigger (electric or acoustic version)
Maroon - Harder to Breathe
Steve Ray Vaughan - Tightrope
Steve Ray Vaughan - Little Wing
Neil Young - Cortez The Killer
Neil Young - Hey Hey, My My (Out Of The Blue, Into The Black)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man
Cortez the Killer is one of my all time Favorites.
Have you heard the Gov't Mule cover? Or the Dave Matthews w/Warren Haynes cover of the song? Talk about rockin!
It's also one of the songs we play when we get together for a jam.
Along with Simple Man.0 -
I can't believe you guys let me forget SUPERTRAMP! 0 -

I was not aware that anyone had covered "Cortez The Killer". Apparently I don't get out enough; I'll have to look for them. It's hard to imagine a better electrified sound on that song than the sound from Neil Young and Crazy Horse! Some times I drive my wife crazy playing songs like this one repetitively!0 -
You sound just like me.
Shoot me your address and I'll send a CD your way with those two Cortez the Killer Covers (They blow the original out of the water), and two Simple Man Covers (Gov't Mule and Shinedown) and a few other songs I'm sure you'll like.
Ever heard of Robin Trower?0 -

I'll E-mail my address to you today, that is very nice of you and I'd gladly reimburse your mailing/media cost! Yes, I really like Robin Trower, but most of my stuff by him is on cassette and I think LP.
A few more to consider, some may be obscure:
Tom Petty - Cabin Down Below
ZZ Top - Master Of Sparks
Shawn Colvin - Sonny Came Home
Eric Clapton - Double Trouble
Collective Soul - Shine
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Still. You Turn Me On
Head East - Never Been Any Reason
Lenny Kravitz - American Woman
Ted Nugent - Stranglehold0 -
Too bad you don't live around here. You have excellent taste in music.
I have enough Trower to fill a disc and a half or so. I'll burn that stuff and a few others that I'm sure you'll like.
I'll get those CD's off sometime. Don't worry, if I'll ever need the $.50 that it will set me back, I'll know where to go.
Do you listen to any.....
Mott the Hoople
Traffic
Ten Years After
Rainbow
Wishbone Ash
Uriah Heep
Deep Purple
King Crimson

Dang it, now you've done it. I've gotten kind of spoiled with my Surround system, but now I need to get off my rear end and set up my pure stereo system out in the Boonies (the name of MY room). Most of the music you mention I have on cassette or LP, so I'll have to dust off the old turntable and see if the Grado needle/cartridge still work. Uriah Heep, wow, I think I have all of their stuff, great sounds and got me through some tough times in the Navy.
Before I retired I loved coming home on Friday's before the wife got home, opening up a bottle of Merlot, and playing my favorite music just below "ear bleeding" level. She doesn't share my need to hear music at a level it was really intended to be played at.0 -
