Zumbo the Dumbo's comment on your rifles
Mr. Nunn,
Maybe we should make this a sticky.
Assault Rifles For Hunters?
As I write this, I'm hunting coyotes in southeastern Wyoming with Eddie Stevenson, PR Manager for Remington Arms, Greg Dennison, who is senior research engineer for Remington, and several writers. We're testing Remington's brand new .17 cal Spitfire bullet on coyotes.
I must be living in a vacuum. The guides on our hunt tell me that the use of AR and AK rifles have a rapidly growing following among hunters, especially prairie dog hunters. I had no clue. Only once in my life have I ever seen anyone using one of these firearms.
I call them "assault" rifles, which may upset some people. Excuse me, maybe I'm a traditionalist, but I see no place for these weapons among our hunting fraternity. I'll go so far as to call them "terrorist" rifles. They tell me that some companies are producing assault rifles that are "tackdrivers."
Sorry, folks, in my humble opinion, these things have no place in hunting. We don't need to be lumped into the group of people who terrorize the world with them, which is an obvious concern. I've always been comfortable with the statement that hunters don't use assault rifles. We've always been proud of our "sporting firearms."
This really has me concerned. As hunters, we don't need the image of walking around the woods carrying one of these weapons. To most of the public, an assault rifle is a terrifying thing. Let's divorce ourselves from them. I say game departments should ban them from the praries and woods.
Got Guns?

Hello guns-n-painthorses,
Do you believe that the coyotes prefer -your- choice in hunting them with traditional looking firearms ???
Do you believe that the coyotes prefer yet -other hunters- choices in using non traditional looking firearms ???
Have you asked the coyotes themselves which ones they would prefer to be shot with ???
Do you now understand the futility of your argument -against- non traditional looking firearms ???
Would the coyote prefer to be shot dead with -your- choices in traditional looking firearms, or perhaps to be shot dead with an airstrike from a A-10 WARTHOG ???
They would vote neither one.
The Gun Freedoms we all enjoy are -Doomed- with your stated logic.
Do you believe that the -ANTI GUNNERS- would approve and applaud you for using your own choices in traditional looking firearms over another hunter using an AR-15 styled firearm ???
They would vote neither one approved.
Why are they called -ANTI GUNNERS- ??? Because they all have proclaimed their intense fear/hatred of guns perhaps ???
Hello Professor !!! Time to wake up Mr. Traditional gun owner !!!
Your thread could well be used in any number of -Anti Gun- campaigns across this Nation for yet more restrictive gun laws on top of even more restrictive gun laws. Etc. Etc.
Have -you- ever heard about the current gun laws in effect in Australia ??? Great Britain ??? Or Canada ???
Your thread also reminds me of yet another equally troubling view also held by some more gun owners within our ranks. The clay shooting sports/shooters themselves, for the most part, seem to hold a false and fatal belief that the National Rifle Association is not really a needed partner for their self chosen gun sport world.
Gun snobbery at it's best.
All Firearms Freedoms will be lost at the stroke of the Liberal Politicians pen. The Anti-gunners in all their falsity will destroy any and all guns and their owners when given -any- oppurtunity to do so. This has been proven time and time again here within the United States, and certainly across the rest of the world.
Where have you been living for all of your life anyway ??? Are you living in some hole in Southeastern Wyoming ??? Or in some hole elsewhere ???
A cracked foundation in the gunners ranks is all that's needed for your guns, and mine guns alike to be outlawed forever, including single shots or repeaters.
When will you Liberal snobby gun owners wake up and realize that the Anti-gunners -HATE YOU- and your traditional looking firearms as much as they hate non traditional looking firearms.
Are you now a member of the National Rifle Association ???
If not, Please join today.
Do you believe that the N.R.A. serves a much needed service in protecting you and -your guns- from the Anti-gunners evil wrath ???
By your thread probably not.
Why don't you ask your assembled hunters from REMINGTON ARMS why they choose not to produce -non- traditional looking firearms ???
Why would they choose not to receive an even larger share of the available gun market ???
Does this logic make any sense to Remington Arms ???
Can -you- now see the "BIGGER PICTURE IN PROTECTING ALL GUN OWNERS AND THEIR RIGHTS TO GUN OWNERSHIP ???
Incidentally, are you aware that there are many organized groups outside of Wyoming that really hate people like you who hunt for any reason ???
They are called Anti-Hunters/Anti-Gunners, one and the same as the other. I rather doubt that your hunting exploits would be welcomed by them even if you yourself should so choose to continue to hunt with only your traditional looking firearms.

Good luck to you on your "HOLY HUNT" -[8][8][8][;)][;)][;)]-0 -
We currently have two open threads on this topic- one on the original statements and the other on his exlaination/apology. Let's confine our replies to those two original threads rather than having competing threads going.
