Frustrated!!!
Okay, I've been looking around on gunbroker.com for a while now, and even gotten some good deals there. But there are a couple of things I really want to get off my chest.
First, this is an AUCTION site. What does that mean? Well, I don't think it means if you're a retailer, you list guns you may or may not have in stock for sale, with a note to call for availability before bidding. That is total B.S. That is the kind of logic that ultimately results in people voting for candidates named Clinton.
Next, "no reserve" should mean NO RESERVE. If you have an item up for auction claiming there is no reserve, then you establish a minimum bid of $750.00 ... then guess what? the researve price for that item is $750.00. That is NOT a "no reserve" auction.
Then there are those retailers that in their stock descriptions say "if this item is a firearm..." Well duh.. shouldn't they know if it's a firearm or not? Yes, I know it's the standard copy and paste "description"... but that doesn't exactly make me feel like I'm going to be getting personalized service from these people.
Well, I feel better now. Be sure to check out my auction, a 2007 Chevy Corvette, with NO Reserve. Remember to call before you bid to make sure I actually have one for sale.

Well, that's my point. SOME people sell guns here. Others just list guns for sale when they don't really have them to sell.

This is just one of those cases where the world as it is does not match your idea of what it should be. Sadly, it's happening in a privately owned enterprise so.....

You get the same thing in any store....
Sears list something in a flyer...you go to the store or call..and guess what?????? ...none in stock, even though it was advertised as being on sale etc....

You are not alone, but those are the rules on this site. I too get tired of sifting through the junk listings to find the REAL auctions.
Maybe you should look at it this way, All those junk listings help support the site and keep it going.0 -

The auction site is open for individuals and professional dealers to use. The penny auctions are fun but most sellers get nervous about the possibility of selling a gun for a penny (happened once to my knowledge and yes the dealer sold the gun for a penny). New and used items are offered and some retailers do use the site for offering retail items at retail prices.
The beautiful part about all of this is that you as the consumer are free to participate in those sales and auctions that interest you and eschew (I love that word and use every chance I get) those that don't interest you. Just because YOU aren't interested in some of these things doesn't mean that there aren't others who ARE interested in them. If there weren't then the items would soon disappear from lack of buyers.
This is called the free-market system. Buyers and sellers enter and leave the market at will and nobody is forcing you to participate. If you don't like some auctions, ignore them. However, complaining about auctions is prohibited under the posting guidelines for the discussion forum. Welcome to the forum, BTW, but this topic is locked.0
