Kucinich Seeks To Ban Hand Guns In America

Congressman drafting legislation to make owning a hand gun illegal.

(Cleveland) - Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich wants to ban hand guns in America.

Kucinich is currently drafting legislation that would ban the purchase, sale, transfer or possession of hand guns by civilians. A gun buy-back provision will be included in the bill.

Kucinich announced this move in the aftermath of Monday's deadly shooting at Virginia Tech.

Kucinich noted in a speech to congress that about 32 people die each day in America due to hand gun related incidents. 33 died at VT.

Kucinich says it's becoming "painfully obvious" that the easy availability of handguns constituents a growing national crisis of public health and safety, one that he says calls for a powerful, wide-ranging response from congress.

He says the level of violence in our society constitutes a national emergency.

Already this Congress, Kucinich has introduced HR 808, legislation to establish a Department of Peace and Nonviolence. It would address the issue of domestic violence, gang violence, and violence in the schools, which is reflected in the current homicide rates.

Kucinich notes recent studies that indicate many killers had histories of mental illness. He says the lack of parity for mental health care remains one of the most serious deficiencies in healthcare in the United States.

Kucinich has also proposed HR 676, Medicare for all. It would establish a universal not-for-profit healthcare system, which would provide full and comprehensive mental healthcare.

It is interesting to note that the ACLU, liberal nuts that they are, are the ones that have put the mentally ill back on the streets of America and made it impossible to committ anyone to a mental hospital that is over 21 unless it can be proven that they are a danger to themselves or society.

You see crazy people have rights and now have to committ themselves! Makes a lot of sense right?

So you don't dare approach a person that is on the edge of flipping out or suggest to the police or anyone else that they have issues!
The police have no rights to do anything until a person acts out their agressive behavior.

So you see its the liberals that have created this melting pot of mentally ill folks among us. So now they can blame their behavior on the guns not on the changes in laws that keep society from treating these folks. Bet you won't see this fact in the news!

In the 1950's each city had a mental hospital and parents could have their children committed if they had a child that was dangerous to society, they could do this at any age. Now you can't do that if the child is over 21 yrs old and most of the hospitals have been closed. The ACLU has made it illegial to hold those people against their will!! So now they hang out on the streets yelling at us when we walk by and we wait for them to flip completely and kill a few folks and then maybe we can lock them up for a little while.

On December 11, 2006 in a speech delivered at Cleveland City Hall, Kucinich announced he would seek the nomination of the Democratic Party for President in 2008. [6]

    His platform[14] for 2008 includes:

Creating a single-payer system of universal health care that provides full coverage for all Americans.
The immediate withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq and replacing them with an international security force.
Guaranteed quality education for all, including free pre-kindergarten and college for all who want it.
Immediate withdrawal from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
    Repealing the USA PATRIOT Act.
Fostering a world of international cooperation.
    Abolishing the death penalty.
    Environmental renewal and clean energy.
Preventing the privatization of social security.
Providing full social security benefits at age 65.
Creating a cabinet-level "Department of Peace"
Ratifying the ABM Treaty and the Kyoto Protocol.
Introducing reforms to bring about instant-runoff voting.
Protecting a woman's right to choose while decreasing the number of abortions performed in the U.S.
    Ending the war on drugs.
    Legalizing same-sex marriage.
Creating a balance between workers and corporations.
Ending the H1B and L1 Visa Programs
Restoring rural communities and family farms.
    Banning hand guns.

I would suggest that all the folks living in Ohio take the opportunity to "Zumbo" this guy. Nail him to the cross!
Ask him if he is going to also draft a bill to outlaw autos everytime someone attacks people with their autos!

But remember this type of incident is what allowed the liberals in Austrailia to outlaws all the various types of guns that they conficasted. It was a similar situation where one person killed a large group of people and a law was passed to pick up the guns.

Even better, let's use Prohibition to show the futility of saving lives by banning inanimate objects that can be used both responsibly and irresponsibly.

32 people die each day in America due to hand gun related incidents? That's 11,680 per year. That's four thousandths of a percent (.004%) of the population each year. At that rate we will have killed everybody in the United States in only two thousand five hundred years.

If I'm that likely to get involved in a "hand gun related incident", I think I'll start carrying two guns.

Not meaning to brag, but I'm a pretty fair weak handed shot. The actual plan though, was when I melt down the barrel on my carry gun, I won't have to go to the gun shop and go through the background check for a replacement. That would be inconvenient in the middle of a gunfight. I'll have one right handy.

There won't be any serious attempts for new "gun control" legislation until after the '08 election. The Democrats are a little gun-shy about that right now.

I do not know who Dennis thinks he appeals to or leads. He is the recent version of Pat Paulsen or Tiny Tim perpetually running. A joke. I would not vote for Mr. Rodgers either.

Banning Handguns really works just ask Canadians. [:0] [:p] What an absolutely politically motivated vote seekng stupid thing to suggest. My friends in the frigid north, including some equivalent to our Game Wardens, say that there is NO money to enforce this. Make a socialized nation and you soon find yourself bankrupt.
