I got mine about 6 years ago so I don't know if the requirements have changed but I didn't need a social security card but I did have to get a copy of my birth certificate from the county health department where I was born. 0 -
Passports require 3 forms of ID now.
Drivers Lic., SS card, birth cert. &/or old passport.
Get your copy of SS card from I "belive"
Socialsecurity.gov
You can down load a form1 ??? & send it in for a new card.
Just renewed my expired passport in Feburary, what a pain, still had to have 3 forms of ID.
Still dont have my SS card yet.0 -

And it requires your time, physical presence and waiting time to obtain in the mail.
Did mine in less than 20 mins, and in my hands in 10 days. Only printed and comes out of Baltimore, MD0 -

I carry a copy of my birth Certificate in my wallet to piss off the jerks that demand my SSI card for ID purposes. I threw the card away in 1972. The drivers License place in Ohio got all bent outta shape when I told them to stuuf it, here is my Birth Certificate.

This is dated 1983 and written by a mealy-mouthed jerk but is still accurate as far as I know.0 -

I still have my original SS card, which clearly states, in English, "Not to be used for identification". A real dilema when the government that issues the card, disobeys it's own rules. I feel like such a rebel. 0 -
I just got my passport and IMAMCLONE is correct. You need 3 forms of ID, one of which has to be a birth certificate. One has to be issued by a government body and have a photo (i.e. Drivers License). The other can be any other form of ID. I used my work ID. You are not required to give your SSN on the paperwork or show it as ID, however not doing so may delay processing (at least that is what they tell you). 0 -
How about :
1) NYS Drivers License
2) Certified Copy of BC
3) NYS Pistol Permit
Will these forms work for ID ?0 -
