I think there was a computer glitch so i'll repost what I asked earlier....is it possible this person that was awarded stayed on duty due to the cash bonus he was paid by the pentagon ?

I took a bonus everytime I qualified for one...big deal he might have got a bonus, he still did his duty and then some. Do you have any idea what it takes to train these guys? Any idea of the blood and sweat these guys pour into training and ops?

This charactor posts something like that, the idea that a cash bonus allowed a brave man to risk his life and rescue other members of his team, and BarkingDog had the nerve to call me a douche bag? Only on Gun Broker do guys like this get to hang around.

No, I am not infering that. However, the military apparently believes that some military personel can be swayed by the offer of a huge paycheck and other perks. It wasnt my idea, it was the militarys. Also, apparently it is working. The program of offering military personel to stay enlisted by offering huge paycheck and other perks is keeping soldiers in the military. I think that can qualify for the statement "in it for the money".
You can flame me or "infering" something but wouldnt it be more appropriate to flame the recepients of what I was "infering" ??

Barking Dog - until you walk in the shoes of ANY one of the serviceperson, you might want to be thankful for anything and everything that you have.

When you are undeniably ELATED that nobody stole the tobasco packet out of your MRE so you could actually EAT the stale or tasteless __________ (fill in the blank).

I could go on and on, but the bonus' are usually earned prior to receiving.

The families of these service people should also get a bonus for all of the crap duty stations, unbelievable time away from family, and the other hardships they have to endure.

This next fall, when I get a bonus AND a performance bonus from my private workplace, I will remember you....and hope you get neither.

Barking...do you have any idea the amount of money and time it takes to train ANY military member in their specialty? These guys cost even more to train.

Guess what? It happens in the civilian sector as well. My wife got a bonus from JC Penney to stay with them as an HR person instead of them letting her leave. It is cheaper to give her a yearly bonus than to let her leave and have to train a new person to do her job.

medic - maybe you missed all of my posts but i have said over and over, i have no problem with the military paying its soldiers. i have no problem with the extra money to keep the elite soldiers.

Last time I checked the U.S. military was made up of professional personnel. That means they get paid for what they do, including signing bonuses.

I see nothing wrong with this system and I don't think that accepting money makes the sacrifices our military people make any less impressive.

As an officer, Lt. Murphy was most likely a career Navy man and would have most likely stayed in the service regardless of whether any monetary incentive was offered.

I am not really sure that I understand the point of your question.
