What a Mosin Nagant can be
Here is one I did about three years ago. What do you think?

very nice, the recoil doesnt affect the scope does it? 0 -
Not at all. The scope holds it's zero amazingly well. That mount is a copy of an ATI mount and is really very solid. 0 -
I have been looking at doing one of these. Where did you get the stock for yours 0 -
In the plus column, the cheekpiece is on the correct side, and in the minus, the 'brushhook' pistol grip and spacers fore and aft would not be my choice.
Generally, really a nice looking rifle.
Clouder..0 -
I is very nice looking. I think Finnish fellow, Simo H?yh? killed around 500 Ruskies with one of these, if we would have had couple of Simos, oh well wishful thinking[:D] 0 -
hey swamp..did you turn down that bolt or buy it 0 -
Stock came from Richards Microfit and is a lot like a club before all the shaping. Still, it is nice wood and for the most part was not bad to work with. The bottom inletting was off a bit, but since you have to finish the inletting anyway it was ok to straighten out and left no gaps. I would order from them again, and in fact have. swamp_thing 0 -
The bolt is of my own making. Cut the original off, welded this one on after flattening the ball front and back. 0 -
Oh yeas, Swamp, it was the little capasitor that was bad, they replaced it and I am cool again! Thanks again for your help. 0 -
nice job[8D] 0 -
Looks very nice. I hate it when they sporterize old springfields though. I think it just ruins the gun. 0 -
You took run of the mill pickled pigs feet type battle rifle and turned it into a highly appreciated work of art!
Nice wood, great looking sporter!0 -
What kind of stock it that???
Sorry missed that post??0 -
I wouldn't be so against sporterizing milsurp rifles if everyone did it as well as you did, swamp_thing. Fantastic job! 0 -
Thanks for the kind words guys. It is a love of sorts that makes a guy do these things. I have another of the same style stocks that will become the basis of another sometime down the road. Found one that someone else had ordered, grade A+, left hand and then didn't take and I bought it for 99.00 shipped. I will put it to use. 0 -

great job[^] 0 -
Never much liked sporters, and still don't, but at least you did a very nice job, not a basement hack off routine. Still in the original caliber? 0 -
Yes, still 7.62x54R. No need to change a great round. This gun was in far from nice condition in it's originality. 0 -
nice workmanship. interesting rifle. 0 -
I like it. Very nice job. 0 -

Great looking job. 0 -
Is that the Carbine (M44,M38) or is it a 91/30 barrel 0 -
It was a 91/30 that has been cut down to 24 inches. The end suffered from cleaning rod wear and would have at least needed counter boring.
Here is one more shot showing the full length picture. The cat is optional equipment.

How is the accuracy at 100yards with that set up? 0 -
I have shot on occasion three shot groups in the 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inch range. That was off a rest and a good bench. Also, I used Sellior and Bellot 180 grain soft point. Would it do better? I don't know, thats as good as I can do at any rate. It is full bedded in the stock, so I believe that also helps it. swamp_thing 0 -
...Best looking job on a Rusky I think Ive seen! Good job.
Im saddened and it's a shame when "bubba" takes a, say pristine K-98 and uses a hacksaw to cut the forend stock off after "eyeballing" it, and then carving his initials in the buttstok with a butter knife, then welds a nail on for a front sight...but it doesn't upset me at all. Hell he paid for it, it's his, he can use it to bat creek rocks with for all I care...[;)]
