    32-18. A win against a top team like Michigan is a major victory and to do it in the Rose Bowl makes it even sweeter. It also makes SC's two losses against "average" teams even worse [V]. I love the school (all three of my engineering degrees were earned at USC) but this year we were simply not a true #1 team.

    You might well be right, but who wants to see a twice beaten team play for the national championship? When is the last time,if ever, that a team with two loses played for number one, anyone know?

    I don't believe that any team with two losses has played or even been considered (back when the title used to be awarded) for the national title, at least not in the modern era of NCAA Division I.
