AK says he's ready to walk away from $63mil

Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko is reportedly set to walk away from 63 million dollars remaining on his National Basketball Association contract.

After translating an interview given to Russia's Sport Express newspaper, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Kirilenko said he is ready to leave the NBA and would most like to play in Moscow, leaving behind his big-money deal for his homeland.

"I am prepared to go without it," the Tribune quotes Kirilenko as saying. "This is a lot of money, even for an NBA club. So what? Maybe this money could go to pay for more players or for something else.

"I have never been unfair and I don't want to enjoy something that I don't deserve. Big money is obviously good but I'm prepared to make less. The size of my salary doesn't mean that much to me. The main thing is to play with a spark.

    this is just a barginging ploy from him in an effort to get more money or a good trade. word on the street is that he wants to play for the lakers.
    personally i think the guy is WAY overated and not worth his contract. apparently utah is now thinking that as well

    $63 mil. This is the problem folks. This is why I can't afford to take my wife, sons, grandkids, and their moms to a Pacer game. Well that and who knows how many are in (or are faced with) jail!

    $63 mil for shooting a ball? How about $63 mil for finding a cure for cancer?

    The dollar amounts are obscene. These freaks actually think they are worth that much compensation. As long as the TV nets give it up the payout will get higher and higher.

    Maybe I should be gratefull. Without TV cash, many of these guys would be stealing my hubcaps.
