Hydrogen car??? WHY
Yesterday at the gym, I was reading an article in the local news paper i think it was the Rocky mountain time??
it had the same heading as this but went more into detail as far as the number are conserded.

WASHINGTON, May 11 (UPI) -- Honda has announced it will lease some hydrogen fuel cell sedans in the United States next year.
The company unveiled a prototype of the car in Washington, USA Today reported. Honda also said it plans to sell a mass-market hybrid sedan next year that will cost less than the Civic hybrid now on the market for $25,000.
Hydrogen fuel cell cars run on electricity generated in a fuel-cell stack in the vehicle. Honda has leased about 20 fuel-cell cars in the United States, most of them operated by state and local government agencies.
"We started with fleets, added a few consumers," said Steve Ellis, in charge of marketing the vehicles for Honda. "Now we're going to swing the pendulum. Clearly the consumer focus is where we need to put more attention."
The company is working on making hydrogen more available. There are now only a handful of hydrogen fueling stations across the country.
And it said
that the car would cost $26,000 for the basic model it would get 38 mpg. the fuel would cost 3-6 dollars a gallon OK now add the law of "supply and demand" into the cost of fuel. in 5 yrs if this is the direction we are heading in, what will fuel be then 12-14 bucks a gallon??? WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT? why cant we make a car that is both friendly to the enviro, and our wallets?

yes but just like that car that ran on water was bought by oil companies so would this car be wouldn't it, not only that it would reck the US economy overnight 0 -

Probably for the same reason there are rifles with caseless ammunition, long range rifles and such.
Ok - we might not need Hydrogen cars - and we certainly don't need long range rifles or .50BMG's or caseless ammunition... or.... or.... or...
Lets ban them so people don't waste their money on expencive technology they don't really need.0 -

I think NEW technology sucks, there is nessesary technology and then there is technologly just for the sake of techonlogy. just when we all have one of these POS's they will come out with something else that "is better" [:(]

Hindenburg? Why that's silly. Hydrogen is explosive, yes, but no worse than, uhm....gasoline.
What I see as useful is if cars can fuel up with hydrogen from a station, but via regenerative braking, solar power, etc., also strech this supply with water and electrolysis- even tank itself up with tap water if left in the sun long enough.0 -
Right now it takes more energy to produce the hydrogen fuel that it delivers. It makes no sense unless the hydrogen fuel can be produced by a solar or other non-petrol based source.
But then you all knew that! Its been posted many times.[:D]0 -

Hydrogen powered cars suffer from a so far insurmountable problem. Hydrogen is almost impossible to store in enough quantity to give a car any sort of range. 0 -
Being one who has used a battery powered ATV for two years I feel that
electic vehicles (and nuclear powered generating plants) are one answer.
Recharging costs about 1 cent per mile per mile. Granted, no speed demon and a range of only 35 miles per charge, but no maintenance but
occasional battery water. Surely a car with some improvements could be
made for more range and speed. Lets face it, during WW 2 our national speed limit eas only 35 mph and we lived with it. Only adaption I made was to have a outlet to power a 24 volt to 115 volt inverter (13,000 watt) for electric tools like a electric chainsaw etc.0 -
Lead acid batteries generate Hydrogen during the process of discharging, and recharging.

Would a little more hydrogen bother us any more than gas and deisel polution? Is it more dangerous than gasoline??0
