There is a material flaw in your conclusion. One of the requirements for a recession by definition is a time frame of 6 months.

Cyclical adjustments on a very short term like you have stated are normal and required.

In macroeconomics, a recession is a decline in any country's gross domestic product (GDP), or negative real economic growth, for two or more successive quarters of a year.

What I mean was once we have met the definition of a recession, then it will last for about 2-4 months, at which time positive growth will return.

I've noted something interesting. While Rush Limbaugh touts our roaring economy, Glenn Beck predicts we are in for some VERY rough times ahead. Mainly due to de=valueation of the U.S. Dollar.
Beck is litterally BEGGING his listeners to NOT go in debt for X-Mas gifts. Be frugal, buy only only what you can afford to pay cash for, while attempting to SAVE as much as you can for future needs.
    I wonder who's right?

the "devalued" american dollar has created a surge in american exports which has helped the economy alot with local domestic jobs.

Max out your credit cards and then report back on that in 6 months.

    What credit cards?
Ok, I've got a couple. A Lowes card for emergency appliance replacement or home repair supplies. And a regular that I use only when we go on vacations. Then pay it off before we go again.
Other than that, I believe in living on a cash and carry basis.

I agree that we're headed for a short recession...

... but the depression after it is going to be a b!+@#.[;)]

A person can make a lot of money if they KNOW when a recesson will occur. Most don't have a clue, and satisfy themselves by wringing their hands and watching for the sky to fall.

    Clouder..

I thought a Recession was when your neighbor loses his job, vs a Depression that occurs when you lose YOUR job.

Hey guys: Guess what? Inflation up, dollar down, new housing, WAY down, forclosures, way up, prices, climbing, wages, not climbing, Govt. spending, way up and deeper in debt with no hope of paying off. Reminds me of Germany back in the 20's and thirties when inflation really set in there. Also reminds me of the U.S. where I lived back in the 20's and 30's during the big depression. But, our "great people" in power still think we can buy "friends" in other countries by giving them money which will be used against us .
