E-mail to Larry Hinker, Virginia Tech

You must be very proud of yourself, Larry. YOU gave those victims no way to defend themselves. I sincerely pray that the victims will find a way to thank YOU in the next life. I'm sure Cho was grateful to you before he began his carnage.
"Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker praised the legislature for allowing the school to disarm lawful gun owners on the faculty and student body, thereby surrendering every college campus in the state to deranged mass murderers, saying: "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
Gunman don't victimize people who have the capacity to shoot back. They victimize helpless, unarmed people like your students and faculty. I'm truly sorry for the loss of lives but you should be totally ashamed for denying licensed permit holders their legal rights - as if YOU were going to protect them. Well, YOU FAILED THEM, LARRY. Live with that. I thank God I won't have to.

Oh I think he knows by now..... 0 -
yeah , he didn't care the school got shot up, but your email is going to shame him(sarcasm) 0 -
At least he knows that other people are aware of his complicity.[:)] 0 -
Good letter but it's probably buried so far under the pile of identical ones that he'll never read it.
I'm still trying to figure out why their posted 'gun free zone' didn't protect everyone.0 -
Realistically ... isn't it the same on any other school campus?
I don't remember anyone shooting back at the tower sniper, shooting back at the kids at Columbine ... or any other school or workplace shooting ... no one shot back at the guy at Luby's either I don't think.
The one thing they all had in common, guns weren't allowed.
Here in Topeka, where concealed carry has only been in effect since last January, nearly all business's have posted the "No Guns" signs ... many small business's have been robbed repeatedly. I'm guessing the thieves have figured out there isn't any one armed in the store ... except them. But that's a whole 'nother thread.
Someone made a comment on another thread that we should cuss and discuss this over and over so we can learn from our mistakes ...
... it doesn't appear we've learned anything.0 -

Many students at U of Texas shot back at Whitman with their deer rifles they retrived from dorms and apartments......0 -
Two students at Appalachian School of Law, only 120 miles from VA Tech, stopped a murderer when the body count was only 3, without even firing a shot, by the use of their sidearms. Most of these people are so cowardly that the mere possibility of a bullet coming back at them is enough to end their rampages - even the Tech murderer stopped murdering people when the police made it into the building with their own guns drawn. 0 -

Here's the letter I wrote him. I plan to write a version to more people.
One student can make a difference
Virginia Tech
16 April 2007
Armed foreign student Cho Seung-hui goes on a shooting rampage on campus and shoots over 50 unarmed victims, killing 32 before committing suicide.
Virginia Appalachian School of Law
18 January 2002
Armed foreign student Peter Odighizuwa goes on a shooting rampage on campus, shoots and kills 3 unarmed victims before an armed student stops him.
One armed student made the difference.
One student could have made the difference. Thanks to you Larry and your friends that one student was no where to be found.0 -
I don't believe these people will ever understand that armed individuals could have made a difference. Most of the folks who make these rules live in fear of guns, have no experience, training or exposure to guns. They grow up in the big cities and watch gun crimes on TV and learn that guns are evil and bad. They will never change their opinion about guns.
You have to overpower them in the legislatures of the various states and on the committees that run the universities. Only by placing pro-gun individuals in political positions can you hope to make a change in the rules.0 -

I truly hope you didn't send that to him. It is tasteless, crude, and insensitive.0 -
Once the government takes away our right to protect ourselves, they are obligated to do any and all means to provide the protection. 0 -

I've more than had my fill of "sensitivity". Save those adjectives for the liberals and their anti-gun agenda. They say we need to be "understanding, compassionate and sensitive" to all of the criminals and nutjobs that are being allowed to invade our country. They jumped on the tv news and talk shows whining about stricter gun control laws while the bodies were still warm. Did anyone tell them that THEY are "tasteless, crude and insensitive"? I'm sick of being "politically correct". I'm sick of garbage like Cho being portrayed as "victims of society" or being made to look like some kind of "Rambo" on the news in order to rile the American public against law-abiding and responsible gun owners. THAT'S how they want the public to view gun owners. They want us to look like a bunch of murderous, insane psycho's to scare the public into demanding the banishment of our constitutional rights to defend ourselves.
I really don't give a rat's behind if you think it's tasteless, crude or insensitive. The anti-gunners don't give a damn about our feelings or rights and proved it by denying licensed CCW holders the right to protect themselves. YES, I sent it and I apologize to NO one, including you. My daughter goes to Virginia Tech and I'd rather be sitting here being accused of being "insensitive" than standing by her graveside like so many parents have been sentenced to do through no fault of their own. I've already been there and done that.0 -

Good for you, Spider! I think the letter was correct and justified.0 -
+1 you insensitive lug[:X].Damn rogue, are you french or what?[xx(]
Tasteless ,crude and insensitive are but a few of the shining attributes that I would like to see more of.Perhaps even in the oval office.Would'nt that be a hoot.ie.I am truly sorry madame speaker but it's time for you to go have sex with yourself now.Hiniker and those like him should be shamed above and beyond the level spider rose to.Let the rats spend 450/hr in the shrinks office to sort it out.No offence Polite Psycho[;)]0 -
Just watch those anti-gun groups use that picture of "Rambo" Cho as their poster boy to push their insane agenda.
I'm just sick of being on the defense when we have done nothing wrong. We are law-abiding citizens but are made to look like criminals. The system isn't perfect and there are some "loose cannons" out there but I can't help but believe that this is the way prohibition started - trying to convince America that anyone who drinks is a raging alcoholic that will steal your money and impregnate your daughter. Although prohibition was eventually repealed, the temperance groups were successful in temporarily bringing it into use. These same type of liberal groups will now try to convince the American public that anyone who owns a gun is a potential Cho and that their children will never be safe at college as long as those "evil guns" are in existence. [:(!]0 -
Check your choices-fight or flight--guess which was the only choice the students had ? Don't tell me they could rush him. That is what an experenced group of adults might do in a simular situation. These, for the most part, are were just scared kids and many away from home for the first time. Nothing wrong with the letter to Hinker. Tells what could have been had some, but not all, professors would have had the means to protect themselves and their students. Plenty of blame to go around but over 2 hours this guy roamed the campus between the first 2 killings ! Were talking about murder here not just a prank. On a bomb threat you evac the school but on a double murder you don't ? Lots of people are saying more gun control is on the way because of this but in reality, it shows to need for good and decent folks to have the ability to defend theirselves. I know that some will disagree with me but that's fine. Cho is the bad guy in this. Wow, glad to get that off my chest. 0 -
quote:That is what an experenced group of adults might do in a simular situation. These, for the most part, are were just scared kids and many away from home for the first time.
The killer was 23, many of the other kids were of similar age, last I checked 22 or 23 was an adult. By example:
My Dad: by the time he was 23 he had volentered and served 3 tours in Vietnam.
My Brother: By the time he was 23 he had served in the gulf and had 3 kids.
My Other Brother: By the time he was 23 he served in Somala and Haite and had 2 kids.
Me: By the time I was 23 I had served my tour in the Army and was discharged as a disabled Vet, I had also found a great job and had bought my first house and owned 2 street cars and was racing a third car.
I could go on and on, but 23 is not a kid.0 -
Ah, yes...we must NEVER be crude, rude, and insensitive.
Instead, we must allow PUKES like that shi++++++ head the power to kill our children...by refusing to allow gun carry on campus.
May he NEVER get another nights sleep the rest of his miserable life.0 -
MK, don't know how old you are but things have changed a bit. College aged people are not as experenced at life as the examples you provided. Yep, adult by law (ie age) but not necessarily adult in real world stuff. I was 17 when I enlisted (now 55) and the REAL world made me grow up quick. Just my thoughts on age vs experence. I've seen 25-30 year olds not grown up. 0 -
If the average college kid today was thrust back in 1942 and asked to fight we would all be speaking German......Society in the US has gotten gutless and spineless, political correctness is cutting the balls of our young men AND I AM FREAKING TIRED OF IT!!!! 0 -

The average college kid is fighting and dying in Iraq for a country that no longer supports his cause....
I think you underestimate them....0 -
BT3, That was only 11 years ago. If the young men of this nation have been that de-maculated in that short of a period of time then this country is all but lost. I do know many great young men of 18 and 19 years of age that would have stood up, they are not in college though, they are serving there country. So is that what we do now, send or best to war and our weakest to college? 0 -
Spider,
what you said was necessary. vess pointed out that it is under a pile of other letters just like it, which at this point may be true, it is irrelevant...The value of your response combined with the fact that you have a child attending the school is immeasurable.
You aren't just another "one of us" gun carrying fanatics this incident directly effects your life.
Good for you.0 -

I would consider any college kid who has spent time in Iraq to be ABOVE AVERAGE, not just AVERAGE as stated by you, I know what you meant though, take care.0 -

I would like to think this horrible event would wake the loons up to the fact their hostility to firearms KILLS people. Sadly, I doubt it will - it's been over five years since 9-11-01 and leftist aversion to firearms still prevents pilots from being armed. "Liberalism: Reality Deficit Disorder" [:(] 0 -
It just makes you want to cry.

Gun bill gets shot down by panel
HB 1572, which would have allowed handguns on college campuses, died in subcommittee.
By Greg Esposito
381-1675
A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly.
House Bill 1572 didn't get through the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety. It died Monday in the subcommittee stage, the first of several hurdles bills must overcome before becoming laws.
The bill was proposed by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah County, on behalf of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Gilbert was unavailable Monday and spokesman Gary Frink would not comment on the bill's defeat other than to say the issue was dead for this General Assembly session.
Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
Del. Dave Nutter, R-Christiansburg, would not comment Monday because he was not part of the subcommittee that discussed the bill.
Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus. The legislation was designed to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."
The legislation allowed for exceptions for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.
Last spring a Virginia Tech student was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class, despite having a concealed handgun permit. Some gun owners questioned the university's authority, while the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police came out against the presence of guns on campus.
In June, Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy reiterating its ban on students or employees carrying guns and prohibiting visitors from bringing them into campus facilities.0 -
"Leftists" preventing carry by pilots ?
Fancy that..a bush supporter calling their president a 'leftist'.
Refusal to acknowlege that the Fascists AND the Socialists require and work for the same goal changes nothing..nor does ignoring the fact that THIS administration is guilty of trying to prevent pilot carry change the facts.0
