Is this ammo corrosive?
I got almost 1000 rounds with my latest gun purchase but I would like to know if it is corrosive or not.

No idea... what are you shooting it out of and what does the heads stamp look like.
My guess is it's Wolf Ammo before they got the fancy packaging.0 -
A good rule of thumb is to consider all berdan primed ammo corrosive until proven otherwise.
Shoot a box of it; save the brass in a baggy; clean your rifle as if it was corrosive; inspect the brass in 3 days. If the brass is covered in rust the ammo is definitely corrosive.0 -
Headstamp says 04 on the top and the number on the bottom varies from 63 to 70. When I open the ammo can it smells like paint thinner if that helps. 0 -
I have a bunch of that same ammo and if it is the grey case I don't think it is Wolf.
I have been useing it with no problems but I am not 100% sure what it is.0 -
Want to know fer shure? Remove bullet and powder from case. Load case into rifle. At a range of about 3 inches, fire the primer at a steel plate that has been polished shiny. Clean rifle, Set plate aside 24 hrs. Plate rusty? Yup, its corrosive. 0 -

11b6r: You have the correct answer. But make sure the plate is not stainless steel. That is one sure way to find out. No such thing as
"mildy corrosive". That is like being a little bit pregnant.0
