Target Stand
I remember GRD talking about welding up some .22 targets or something and I saw something that also might sell at gunshows. A shift mechanic at work made a government project for his supervisor a couple of weeks ago. He used some very narrow but fat flat iron to make a portable target for paper tagets. Perhaps 3/4 wide by 1/4 thick flat iron.
He mad a rectangle about 5 foot high and 3 foot wide. Crossbar down... Maybe 1 foot and half. Then welded some pipe nipples at the top. Used bolts and nuts through the nipples for hinges. (I just said nipples twice in a completely appropriate manner. Nipples and nuts in the same sentence.)
Off the hinges another flat iron rectangle was made so it is basically a light weight hinging A-frame. Then a paper target on legal size copier paper is clipped to the top and mid flat irons of the first rectangle using super-sized office supply spring steel paper clips.
I wish I had a picture, but it is a hinging portable target stand. Throw it in the back of a pickup and tack it with you to where ever. When your not using it, it folds flat and fits easily in anyones garage.
Anyway, I've never seen a well built portable target stand like this and thought this might actually sell decent enough.

Our marketing department (right around the corner from me) just got some sign stands from a local company. Thin steel/iron rod (1/8" or so) in the right shape with two longer posts to dig into the ground and a frame set to hold an 11x17 paper. Cost $15 each, I think I'm gonna get 2 of them for myself.
The range I use (Osceola Nat'l Forrest in N. Florida) has stands made from 2x4s, but there aren't a lot of 'em and they end up being shot up really quick. I typically take a hammer and nails wiht me when I go, and spend the first 45 min. of my shooting time fixing 2 or 3 stands - one for myself, and however many I can easily and quickly fix for others to use.0 -
I use old political camp.signs the ones with the metal frames, actually heavy wire and you can get alot of shooting out of them,i use shoot n see targets or copy the osama bin laden targets i have and duct tape them on, poor people have poor ways [:D][;)] 0 -
Ditto on the campaign sign frames. Took my dad and nephew shooting last November and left all my targets/frames at a friends. Saw the campaign sign sittin in the barn. They work great. 0 -

Two 2x4's and two pieces of sucker rod make the best stands I ever used.
Bore one 2x4 completely thru the 4" part..one hole each end.
Bore other 2x4 half-way thru. holes slightly bigger then sucker rod.
Drive one sucker rod into ground...
Slide bored-through 2x4 over rod and position other rod thru other end of 2x4...drive in.
Place second 2x4 on top of rods.
Staple whatever size target on upper 2x4, slide lower up till target can be stapled...step to the firing line and proceed to punch the 'x' ring....
Simple, elegant solution to a continuing problem...what to shoot at !!!0
