As much as I respect you and a good many of your opinions I must ask. Does this mean the problem is being dealt with or you just made all the evidence go away so, hopefully, I'd forget about it?

I understand that this is a private forum and that constitutional rights do not apply to everyone equally here, but can't something be done?

Thanks for all the support from you guys via email. It means a lot.

    David -

I happened on your little note to GW. I'm sure I know your intentions... And they were honorable. At the same time, though, I wonder if it might not be just as well to let this guy say what he wants. While I see and hear some of the howls of protest, I also see voices of reason and truth.

Let the light of truth shine on Mr. Wiz's posts. They'll soon either disappear or be so scorned as to not warrant comment. Either way I see a win for the better part of humanity. Free speech is allowed, ideas and lies can be presented, and the better part of your readership can make a choice for the good.

    My Best,

Just received the Gun Digest books on Firearms assembly/disassembly that you posted on earlier.

Those are nice. Real nice, and I'm sure will be of great use to me in the future. Much more comprehensive than the NRA guides. Thank you for pointing them out.

quote:I will lock it, but I will state this:

I have the utmost respect for both select-fire and Highball, and have broken bread with both. They just have different points of view.

I think Highball considers me an agent of The Beast, since I have a FFL, and transfer fireams using Forms 4473, and call in the NICS checks on buyers. I have to operate within the existing framework of laws, and I enjoy what I do.

Back when I used to work gun shows, I met lots of guys like Highball. They might find a gun they like on a table, but if the table was operated by an actual FFL, they would look elsewhere for a private sale. I understood; they wanted no paper trail. You can't blame them, but it did severely limit their choices. Of course, the gangstas, convicted felons, and illegal aliens were also seeking non-papered firearms.

I think Highball makes an unreasonable assumption when he states that people like select-fire will turn in their guns if a ban is enacted. Some of us "agents of The Beast" might just fool you.

You sound like a good man with a level head.

Just received a message by email from support@GunBroker.com, subject is GunBroker Account Verification, Updade a Credit Card on File. It states that: Your account will expire unless you re-enter your personal information and provide Credit Card Information. If the information is not provided then your account will be deleted without the right to register again.

I would assume this is a scam and if so everyone should once again be make aware that such a request is again making the circuit.

    Hey nunn --
Did you send me 3 e-mails? The name on the return e-mail address begins "ds5." There's no way to tell for sure except that "DavidNunn" appears in the properties. These all have attachments and I don't want to open them if they're advertising cookies or viruses, know what I mean?

    David,

I mistakenly posted a topic in Politics that I meant for general.

It is titled JPFO Head's Speech to the NRA Board 1994.

Would you be so kind as to move it over here please?

    Thanks

    Have you been visiting Calf.??

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. -- An investigation into a Cathedral City police officer who police said took off his clothes and jumped into a pool with two women while answering a noise complaint call has resulted in charges filed against the officer, said Riverside District Attorney Rod Pacheco.

John Fox Jr., 37, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including assault under the color of authority.

The alleged incident happened at 2 a.m. on Sept. 29 when a homeowner claimed Fox knocked on his door responding to a neighbor's complaint about noise. He told News Channel 3 the officer proceeded to the back yard where the officer took off his uniform and jumped into the pool with his two female friends.

The women claim the officer started touching them before the homeowner called 911. That's when, they said, Fox got out of the pool, put his clothes back on and left.

The Cathedral City Police said this is a stain on the department, and it will take some time to cleanup.

When asked if Fox has explained what he was thinking the night of the incident, Lt. Chuck Robinson with the Cathedral City Police Department said, "I don't know what he has or hasn't said to the district attorney's office regarding this case or if he's even made a statement."

Robinson said he can't comment on personnel matters or disclose if Fox has any prior cases of misconduct.

Fox has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the completion of an internal investigation.

"Police officers are a public trust," Robinson said. "The community has an expectation of how you're going to behave and how you're going to conduct yourself, and when you do something to besmirch the image of the police officer and the uniform itself it's disheartening.

"You work so hard to build that trust up with the community," said Robinson. "When something like this happens, you just know that you let your community down."

Fox has not been arrested, but he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning in Indio for arraignment.

If required to go to jail, his bail will be set at $50,000, according to the district attorney's office.
