I bought a storage container
and wished I had done it years ago. This sucker is 28' x 8'6" x 9'. Outside is alunimum, has hardwood floor and inside walls are 1/2" plywood.
I have so much clutter in the house plus the clutter in another storage house. I can now take my time and build shelves, put up pegboard and get everything organized.
I haven't anchored it down yet but when I do, I will use it for my storm shelter. I believe it to be stronger than the house. The cost: only 1600 + delivery fees (2.50 mile) and tax. All together just shy of 1900. Was at Home Depot yesterday and their comprable shed was over 6K. Unbelieveable. There is no comparison in the quality of the two. Aluminun shell Vs partical board or whatever they use.
If anyone needs a large storage container, I would highly recommend looking into something like this.
As an aside, I have lived in worse building than this. Like Korea in early 60's. Quansit huts with gaping holes and you would wake up in morning with snow covering your rack. Literally. Tom

Those look like they would make fine storage sheds. Varmint proof, strong construction and floor enough to support a fork lift. The ones I have seen are still very servicable looking, it must not be economical to ship them back to China empty. 0 -
Like to have one myself; but, unfortunately living in a subdivision with restrictions, they wouldn't allow it. 0 -
Company bought a 40' a couple years ago, from a co. out of Houston, the floor was shot, had to re-do about 1/2 of it.[:(!]
I would not buy another unless I could inspect it first.

I recently saw an article on the History or Discovery channer or some other, on the E. and W. coast they are actually building apartments out of these. They are built like brick S..Houses. They simply weld them together, cut holes for doors, windows, etc and you have an apartment.
It may not have been in this country, but the idea is a darn good one. Tom0 -
Ugh......aluminum ones SUCK for security. You can chop through them with an axe.
I have 5 containers. 2 40'ers, and 3 20'ers. All steel. They are awesome, except in the summer when it is 110, then they become giant ovens.

I'm not saying this is your story, but my inlaws will pay a lot of money to store their worthless crap. I try to get them to throw away most if not all of it, no hope! They'll use a 10 cent ziplock bag to save 1 cents worth of onion that they didn't eat. I keep telling them to think to all the old people that die with houses for of S@#T - they just back up the dumster and throw it all out. I told my father-in-law that I would make sure they dig his grave 50 feet deep so he can take all his crap with him.
So... is what you are storing worth more (money wise) than the building you just bought?0 -
I have five. One fourty and four twentys. I didn't anchor them down I just put a railroad tie under each end to keep them off the ground. I'm way too lazy and busy to build shelves so I bought gorilla shelves from Sam's Club. The shelves are strong enough to hold their space in books and probably more. You paid less for yours than I did. It seems everthing in Ca costs more plus four of the containers I bought are "one trip" cargo containers. They were almost new and perfect. 0 -
I got two 40' 18 wheeler trailers for 350 bucks ,Poured two strip foundations where the frame rails meet the ground.Snatched the bogies out from under them and set em down on the ground. There great for storing my parents and my crap. 0 -

In the new Predator Extreme Magazine on page 8 there's an ad by Dragon Products, Ltd. Website:www.modernusa.com, for 20 and 40 ft.
containers. "14 gauge steel and marine grade floor".......0 -
I found mine in a local sales rag under "storage containers". They are advertized all over seems like. I live in MS and I guess any state that has a port should have them at a good price. Tom 0 -
My sweetie is a pack rat....not organized AT ALL either. I know if he were to get his hands on a storage container it wouldn't take him long to fill it up. Then another, and another....pretty soon it would look like I was shipping my own yard to China. I don't DARE start that idea here! 0 -
Come on Locust, a fellow cannot have too much "stuff". That is part of my problem too. I cannot pass up a good yard sale and if the price is right, I must buy it. It may sit around for 20 years before I have a need for it but I just can't not buy a good deal!!!
Most of the stuff I buy is given away to others whome I am sure needs said item. Tom0
