Anybody know ?

Highball
Guy at the range today shooting a .45...25 yards.
Rather indifferent groups.

He claimed to be following advice given by a 'Seal'...seems they are taught to 'not use rear sights'...to just concentrate on the front sight for shooting.

Has there been a sea change in Special Forces training ?

I realize that at typical ( 7-10 feet) ranges...a fast front sight will generally win a fight...but...25 yards or longer range ?

    When they talk about 95 bucks a barrel for oil...what is the guy that sells it to the refineries selling price per barrel ?
    Is there hard information from some source other then government or oil moguls ?..Course...these days, it is hard to tell the difference, of course...

    Ummm... the front sight thing works well from about 10 yards and up. Or so they tell us during firearms training each year.
    Personally I think the rear sights help a lot.

    LOL ... my son trains SEALS to shoot, under their Navy contract --- http://www.gotammo.com/ --- and the belief that they are not supposed to use the rear notch sight got a chuckle out of him when I mentioned it.

    Fairbain (sp?) taught that type fighting many years ago...but they were fighting in alleys and bars...CLOSE range stuff..and needed to be fast AND accurate.

    I thank you for that report, Zipperzap... confirms my own suspicions about that 'seal' person.
