Only one way to find out![}:)] 0 -
You did say she was gonna be gone this weekend. Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. 0 -
Hey, Who said she has to find out?
[:p]0 -
I will have to retract from buying just like the landing gear. 0 -

True.. I can't bring it home.0 -
Buy it, and teach her to fly it.
She'll love you even more for it.
(Can I have a ride??)

Tell her it's on loan from me for a month.
Check TBO on the engine and prop, A.D.s on the 201 and corrosion.
I hope you're not too tall.0 -
She might say "no" but she means "yes". 0 -
Fast but really small cockpit. Flew one down to Sarasota, FL one time and couldn't wait to get out of it. I haven't been following the prices but it doesn't sound like a bad price. 0 -
yeah really, when girls say "NO" when you KNOW something is wrong, and you say "Anything wrong?" it really means yes..
so just say "I thought that was a girls mean way of saying "yes but i dont want to tell you that"0 -
I prefer the C-172. 0 -
Real planes drag their tails.
I love me some Cub time.

First time in the air was an old J-3 cub. Fart in a windstorm. Joe 0 -
Select, if your going to buy bird you might as well get something with class and history, like this:

Now if you really have to have four seats you could still go with this:

The problem with a Mooney is that they are very cramped inside, there is no bagage room, the view stinks due to the wing posistion and the glide ability is non-exsistant, other than that they are pretty cool, but you can do better for the money.0 -
That Navion is nice. If you look closely at its lines, you can see a lot of P-51 in that design.
And that T-28? Ever been in a bubble? Sunburn city. And at balls to the wall takeoff power its gulping 40+ GPH fuel till you get to the first power reduction. It doesn't have long legs.
If I ever hit the lottery, I'd get a Merlin SW4, or a Cheyenne-4. Now that's neat. Nice to go and visit folks across the country nonstop at flight level altitudes. Joe0 -
Joe, there is just something about those round motors, with a T-28 you get a real warbird and all those round motor sounds[:p] Maybe not too praticle, but neather is having a garage full of blue corvetts[;)] 0 -
Speaking of radials, did you know Skyraiders have such "on staton" endurance that they have been known to run out of oil before running out of gas? R-3350 is a real oil burner. The sump tank has a gauge remoted to the instrument panel. Now, that's something! Joe 0 -
My grandfather used to say that if a radial wasn't smoking you needed to shut it off, because there might just be something broke or it's out of oil[:D]
I have heard that about the old A-1's, they are great old birds and one of my favorits. There is a small company that rebuilds warbirds at the Rialto Airport not to far from me. The last time I was in there they had just started a rebuild progect on a old A-1D. It'll be great to have another one airborn again.0 -
But it and then take her up and join the "Mile High Club". She will love you for it.....[:)][:)]

ARE YOU NUTS???
don't you know how much ammo and guns you can buy for 80 grand??0 -
Yea, but if you mount a pair of M2s uder the wings, THAT would be fun [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Forget the Navion look-a-like FW. It has a GO480 engine($$) and only does 130kts. Look at an A36, Deb, N or later V-tail or one of Vans RVs
(see his website)and be happy. A 20-25 year old plane should be looking at a paint job and interior redo.
Radials sound nice but dont make cents. They make scents and spray and burn lots of oil, not to mention gas.
I parked behind my neighbors C195 and got a clear coat of oil when he started up.
A 172 will take you through four seasons on any reasonable cross country trip.0 -
Are we taking bets?[:D]
You may have to use it to make yoour escape from her.[8D]

I asked my wife, once, to join the mile high club. She said there were too many people watching. So I asked how many would be acceptable. It was hell trying to explain the black eye. 0 -
Sell a Vette. 0 -
Tell her you bought a more expensive one and then after she blows up tell her you are just kidding, I got the lesser expensive one. That makes it easier to swallow. 0 -
take her out..when she finds ,no chutes in there, she aint gonna say much wrong !![:D] 0 -
Just telling you are storing it for one of your friends. She will understand. 0 -
The choice of an airplane depends on how you plan on using it,
how many passengers you need space for and of course ,your budget.
If you just want to smash bugs around the pattern or take one hour trips for the $100 hamburger, just about anything will do.
Serious cross country is something else.
That A36 is ready for anything if you can afford it.(I dont like calling it a Bonanza when it's just a stretched Debonair)
A loaded and updated Deb might do what you need at that Mooney price.
The Beech airframe was designed in a wind tunnel, making it more fuel efficient than most and it has a relatively roomy cabin.
If you're the sport Corvette ownership suggests, look at a Vans RV7 or 7a.0
