Obfuu...hehe Had to look that one up.
Well i'm only fascinated by the technical aspects...
Could be a cool experimental area to play around with.
That dudes personal wievs is of no interest to me.

    Something like that Doug

Maybe i want to invent the fuel air submachinegun running on diesel or something like that [:)][;)]

So maybe one day in the future we will be speaking of , if the 2-stroke or 4-stroke submachineguns is the best choice [;)]

Check through some history. Compressed gas has been used as a propellant for weapons for at least a couple thousand years.

Find another field in which to assume leadership.

Well but it is'nt really compressed gas only coz it burns fuel.
But i shall do some more researh (for fun) about the subject.
Hmm hydrazine might be interesting to use...Then i think even the astronauts could do some plinking in space...

I always have trouble keeping my air rifle sighted in from year to year. I wonder if this is why?

The manual for my RWS barrel cocker says specifically to use a non-dieseling oil.

If you want some serious power - look at airrifles in 9mm.. .40cal .45cal and .50cal..

    Search Quackenbusch on google..

I believe they even killed a hog with a .50cal Quackenbusch airrifle..

In Denmark - airrifles of any caliber is free to the public as long as you are 18 years of age.
Anyone regardless of age, can shoot on private grounds - provided the shooting is under adult supervision or permission.

Here - airrifles are also totally unregulated.
It would make no sence to restrict airrifles, when real guns can be bought anywhere - by anyone.

In '47 or '48, I used ether, oil or gasoline alternately in a HyScore coaxial piston, spring driven air pistol.
As I recall air /fuel mixture was critical. You just couldn't just load more to get more power. When the correct mixture was reached, you got compression-ignition and a report.
Accuracy was unpredictable but power was about 2x.
Could you distill the circumlocution and get to your point in a short paragraph?

They already have those (well, not sub-machine guns, but projectile shooting weapons that use combustables). They are called Potato guns and they use hairspray (AquaNet is best) as a fuel source.

Jupp but that's uncompressed devices mostly.but it should be possible to make em run like an engine or..automatically.

    "...circumlocution"

v35 - thank you for using a very nice word.

I shall try to put it into one of my posts, soon.

I am still looking for a thread where I can legitimately use "epiphany" - another very nice word.

Interesting point about where honors should fall in shaped charge development.
In Edinburg Castle, Scotland there's a drawing from the middle ages depicting two men holding trunions, extending from each side of a conical casting, against a castle door. One of them is igniting a fuse. Who knows whether this was an announcement of the invention or an example of an older discovery. There is apparently the same focussing effect of a cone when using black powder but to a lesser degree than high explosives.
There's no question about what's going on in the picture.
