Christmas lights......who here lights up the house
I had planned on getting lots of lights on this place. Its such a cute country style home it is just perfect for lighting up every window and edge. After running some large lights along the front banister and some around the back porch area....I don't know if I have what it takes to run lights like I want. Its more work than I thought it would be. I will try to post pics sometime...for now I am planted on the couch and I don't think I will get back up anytime soon.

I usually have mine up by Dec. 1. I do the icicle lights around the eaves and front porch. One year, we had a ice storm in Dec. In the middle of the night, I fired up the generator and left the Christmas lights on. Our house sits about 1/2 mile off the major road by which many people pass by on their way to work. The next day, people were commenting on the fact that my Christmas lights were the only light visible for miles. 0 -
I know its early....but since this is a new place we aren't just putting up the decorations we have. I am having to figure out what the plan is and buy just about everything. In the past we just couldn't do much because there was NO room for anything....but now we are able to go all out!!! Its fun to see the kids getting all excited. 0 -

i used to go all out to decorate, now just a little garland around the handrail 0 -
The hot trick is to make them unobtrusive enough that you can leave them up all year long and no one will notice unless they're turned on.

I always put my lights up in the beggining of Dec.My PGE bill goes up from approx $100 to $400 in one month.Lot of people tour around here with there kids looking at the lights,a rather nice thing. 0 -
Our house is kinda an "A" frame, and the glass front faces out over a valley. We put a line and pulley up on the peak, so every Christmas season, we hoist up a huge 5-foot star to the top, with strings of lights streaming down that make a HUGE Christmas "Tree" about 40 feet tall. You can see it for miles. 0 -
I don't, but I've got 2 massive (60' tall) cedar trees in my front yard. One of these years I'll have to do 'em up in blue & white lights... 0 -
