My new glasses just got here.

This new bifocal thing is gunna take some real getting used too![:(]

    I'm hip.
    Did you get the ones without lines? 'Cause I just can't get the hang of them. My next ones are gonna be with the lines.

    Yes it will - watch out for stairs, be sure to look directly at them.

    I have put it off for two yrs now,but i am going to have to break down and get them too,real small print is getting fuzzier and fuzzier, and i do like to read the truck traders,lines or no lines what was your choice git r done?

    Yea I got them without the lines. I figured I didn't need everyone on god's green earth knowing I was wearing them![:D]

    You get used to them fairly quickly. I have had mine in the last 3 pair of glasses I have had. Only problem I still have is lying in bed and night trying to watch TV. Can't seem to get my head at just the right angle to see the TV clearly. [:(] So...Now I have to sit up in bed at night to watch. Good luck with them, and as everyone else has said...be careful on stairs for the first week or so!

    I just picked my new ones this AM. Lined bifocals. I once tried the no line ones, but couldn't get used to them. My wife uses the no line ones and loves them.

    My first day with them I was walking across uneven ground and had to tip my head so I could see over the bifocal part . wearing a baseball cap I ran into a load of lumber on the rack of my truck with my head I have progressive now after a few years of not being able to read the in between distances like at a grocery store on the aisles

    I've been wearing bifocals for 24 years and changed to progressive (no-line) lenses after the first two pairs. I got used to them in a couple of days and won't have anything else. I can see my dash gauges and computer screen better.
    *To those of you who are blessed with good vision--enjoy it while you can![}:)] I used to be able to count the hairs on a gnat's ear, but no more.[:(]

    I didn't have to get glasses until I was 48, and still had 20-15 vision beyond about three feet then, so bifocals were the only real option from the start. I tried the no line type and hated them, turned them back in and got the lined style and have worn them for nearly ten years now.

    Do pay attention to those stairs for a few days, and don't play catch with your kids with a hardball until you get used to them. If that sounds like the voice of experience, that's because it is.[;)]

    It's interesting trying to decide just which ball to try to catch as "they" come at you at high speed.[:D]

    The other thing you may begin to notice is a form of "tunnel vision". You tend to need to concentrate more to see what you are looking at or for, and things outside of your immediate area of concentration seem to become invisible sometimes. It's amusing on occasion just how blind you can be to something just inches away from what you are looking at.

    Well i've allready burned my finger 2 times going to take a cig from my mouth, just catching a glimps of my hand going up.[:(]

    I'm sure I'll get used to them pretty quick. But untill then it will be okward.

    When I turned 40 - years back - and went for an eye exam, the optometrist smiled and proudly exclaimed "Congratulations and a belated Happy Birthday! You need bifocals!!!"

    You'll get used to them in a week or two.

    Progressive all the way.If you climb down a ladder using either noline or bifocals, watch out.You can step off the ladder two steps above the floor.

    Yup, it happened at 40.
    Watch stairs,curbs and keep your eyes on uneven ground because you think you can see down through the reading section but your feet are really out of focus and you misjudge obstructions.
    If like me you don't lift your feet when you walk, it's worse.
    The tunnel vision is also a pain and embarassment when you don't see
    things just outside your cone of vision.
