I avoid any problems and put everything in my main baggage!

    I don't even take a carry on!

I will take a book or something like that but no bag goes on with me!

[8D]--MFI- you're safest bet is to call American, a couple days before your flight (things change ALL THE TIME) and find out what is required at your airport !!!

    --Also your Passport reqiurements--Good luck

I flew last month for the first time in awhile so I checked the TSA's website and American Airlines website. There are some differences in what they allow. ie: TSA says you can pack pepper spray in your checked baggage but A.A. doesn't allow it. I didn't bring any carry on just to make it easy.

I don't even carry change. No keys. Non metal belt-buckle. Easy on and off shoes. Get one of those clear passport holders that fit like a necklace. It's incredible watching people that knew where they were going that can't find I.D., passport, ticket, etc. I like git_r_done's approach, too. They don't seem to like floppy clothes, either. I wear a T-shirt and jeans. No coat. That goes in checked luggage. Tennis shoes. Trying to look as non-threatening as possible. Been to Costa Rica five times the last five years. Zero problems with this dress recipe. Sixty plus and blue eyes probably help.

Make sure all of your ID information is up to date and NOT EXPIRED.

Check as much of your belonings as possible and eliminate as many carry on's as possible regardless of the fear of the airline losing your baggage (it rarely happens due to contrary belif). Be sure to use a nice bag tag for proper ID.

Check in online 24 hours prior to your flight and print your boarding passes at the provided American Airlines link below (have your confirmation number/record locator ready).

    https://www.aa.com/aa/reservation/flightCheckInViewReservationsAccess.do

When you get to the airport check your bags at curb-side check (be sure to have some tip money). Then you can go straight to security of the terminal you depart from and eliminate dealing with lines at the check in counter.

When going through security be sure to remove both shoes, your belt, any jewlery, hats, keys, wallet, or coats. The less you have on the better (now don't go gettin' naked!). Be sure to keep your borading pass and ID in hand.

Once through security, go straight to your gate and make sure all is well for an on-time departure.

After that, you should be good to go unless you get a seat next to a large person or a gabber![:D]

Be sure to bring headphones if they offer an inflight movie. An Ipod comes in very handy as well.[;)][8D]

One other tip I use is to bring a small snack in the event you get the munchies.

Also, get some Airboune and drink organge juice before you fly and during the flight. This keeps the imune system cooking on high while you are breathing recycled air![xx(]

Bring ear plugs or chewing gum if you have issues with you ears popping with altitude changes (I don't have this problem but my wife does).

To conclude, try to be patient as flying these days can REALLY suck! Definatly give yourself plenty of time for getting to the airport and checking in. The more the better.[;)]

Check this website for additional tips!

One other tip....keep an eye on all bearded folks that refuse to eat pork or speak of the muslim religion. [:D][}:)][:o)][8D][:p][:0][^][:D]

    Good luck....

If its a busy airport, come about 1/2 hour before your flight and then head to the front of the security line with your ticket. No wait! [:D][:D][:D]

Still carry your camera and high dollar stuff, and your keys, and a change of clothes in your carry on
I just got back for CR, and someone had a camera stolen from checked bag.

Great, friendly country though overall, have a great trip

I don't fly on airplanes. The bible says "low, the Lord be with you". It doesn't say anything about 20,000 ft. high.

Glocks don't make it through a metal detector or an Xray machine.

First, nothing like a pocket knife that would be considered a weapon CARRIED ON YOU or in your carry on bag. In your checked baggage OK. No pepper spray or lighters anywhere. You cannot carry drinks thru security checkpoint. Allow yourself check-in time. Any liquids, gels or aerosols in your CARRY ON must fit in a single 1 qt ziplock bag, max size 3 oz for any one item. Larger in checked baggage OK. That one qt baggie will need to come out of your carryon bag, and be xrayed. Shoes come off and get xrayed. Any prescription meds, be sure they are in the original prescription container that has your name on it, and they go in your carry on bag. You can have up to 4 books of matches in your carry on, none in checked bag. Have CURRENT ID. See the TSA website. Flew CA to VA today.

Didnt they just say lighters are now allowed? i saw it on the news, they said its supposed to speed up lines at security. I saw on the news a bucket with 12,000 lighters in it, i would have have gave them 100 bucks for em!
