  Common practice-seen it many times. Because 53's suck (had to get that in)
  
  There is actually a fixture that gets installed if the gear can't be pulled down. More like a cradle to set the nose into.

  Good crew and pilot. It took guts to get under that thing to pry the nose gear down.
  Sikorsky has been screwing with the Ch 53 for ages.
  You'd think they'd have worked the major bugs out by now. It's at least 44 years old.
  I did some design work on the GPU for it in 1964. It supplied AC,DC, 400~ and hydraulics for startup and equipment testing.
