Pachmayr Grips - S&W J-Frame
I have an Airweight 642 for CC that came with wooden grips and the S&W medallions. Pretty to look at but hard to hold onto with +P ammo. I replaced them with the OEM compact snap-on (no screw) boot grip where the backstrap is exposed. Better but still a bit jumpy as I do not have large hands. Pachmayr offers a selection of grips, some are slightly larger and feature greater finger grip area while others are smaller and perhaps a bit more difficult to grip firmly.
Concealability in my pocket is very important so I don't want to use long or oversized grips. And, like all of the holsters I've bought that look like they should work but ultimately don't on me, I'm really not in the mood to start buying all different types of grips as well until I find the appropriate one.
Any suggestions from you folks who already have Pachmayr grips on your J-frame? Much appreciated.

My carry piece is a S&W 37, uncataloged, DAO, with a bobbed hammer, no interal lock, and with what I believe are Uncle Mike boot grips. Works great for carry, and I can control the gun fine.
I understand these are not the same grips that are on the regular production guns..I might be wrong, but these work for me.
What about S&W factory "Target" J frame round butt grips? Bigger, but not huge, they are out there...someone must have NOS0 -
These Pachmayr grips on my "J" frames are very comfortable. But it depends on the size of your hands as to what will work well.

Triple K makes a pocket holster for the J-frame you might like.
If you want to sell the wood stocks, send me an E-mail.0 -
Try a tyler grip adapter with the original wood grips. It will make the gun feel like a boot grip without adding bulk or the sticky rubber to catch on the inside of your pocket. This is my favorite grip set-up for J-frames. 0 -
I prefer the Uncle Mikes boot grip over the Pachmayr for concealability and a good fit to the hand. The Pachmayrs I believe are heavier. The second generation Lasergrips fit well too. 0
