Hourly or Salary?
Salary or Hourly
Salary gives you a little more control of the situation. Bonus. Worse insurance benefits. Worse Pension. Possibly better pay, but not necessarily. The challenge fills that hunger within me though.
Just curious what you guys thought if given the option.

I'm in radio, man.
I work for day-old produce and free tee-shirts.0 -
I am salaried. I get comp time for any "overtime." So if I work 45 hours last week I only need to put in 35 this week. Or I can bank is all as vacation later. Given the average hourly wage at my company one would need to work well over 60 hours to make what I make.
Healthcare is identical. Hourly receives profit sharing while salary does not. However salary has defined bonus goals which are not profit related. For example we needed to shut down a few factories so bonuses were paid out to the managers who were able to shut it down below a certain cost containment by a certain date. Company lost money so no profit sharing was given to the hourly but the salaried got nice ized bonuses.0 -

Been on salary for 37 years, have a company vehicle with unlimited use and good benefits. Been with the same company for 47 years and am now top dog! Don't have to do anything anymore except act as a consultant and sit behind my computer looking stupid. (I am good at that[:D]) I can leave and go where I want anytime I want because the company furnishes me a radio and a cell phone, (with unlimited use) so they can reach me when they want. I now draw SS retirement benefits so my entire paycheck goes into savings. Not too bad for an old former West Virginia hill billy. [;)]
Hey Rosie. Where did you play?
old holler boy here (Still aint got my legs the same length after 15 yrs on the flatland) [:D]

Given the choice I would take hourly. Like many have already said, I like knowing my pay. The job I currently work at refers to our pay as "contract pay". We are paid for 40 hours a week, weather we work 35 or 40, but if we work 45 hours, we are paid OT for the extra 5 hours. I really like this concept.

Me and Mrs Rogue are salary........ 0 -
Salaried in this job and previous one. I like the flexibility it gives me, and I've figured out how to do the work pretty efficiently so going beyond 40 hours is rarely an issue. If I want OT, I can still pick up a few grand a year in overload duties and grants. 0 -
An "S" corporation is one way for employers who wish to hire Indpendent Contrators to go. An "S" corporation is a corporation doing business as a partnership, this kind of filing lets employers to file a partnership return and get out of paying the higher corporate taxes, Incorporating under and "S" also shields the employer against law suits. If the Corporation follows all of the by/laws.
When hiring Independent contractors it's wise to provide workmans compensation. Independent Contractor laws are complex, in most business situations much legal exposure exists, not providing workmans comp can cause legal problem's.0 -
I'm salary with production bonus. I have'nt been hourly in 15 years. Cant imagine it, but it does have some advantages. 0 -
Salaried, and work more than 40/week. Never expected it to be otherwise. Excellent retirement benefits, 80% of average of top three years. Past full retirment qualifications, and way into Johnny Paycheck country. Only working as long as it stays fun. 0
