I normally start with Sportsman's (Including Bear) for $85 - includes a conservation, state lands, deer A, elk, and black bear license and authorizes fishing and hunting of upland birds, excluding turkey.

My Sportsman's in SC cost $50 plus $20 for 4 doe tags.
If I could get the VA off thier tail ends and send me the paperwork I need (that I requested about 3 months ago) all but my doe tags would be free.
I also get free property taxes (land and viechle) and free registration on my viechle (disabled Veteran plates that never expire) on my disabled vet status.
I went ahead and paid for my hunting/fishing licence because my old one expires at the end of the month.
Next year it will be free and they will issue for 3 years at a time.0 -

Indiana's permits are kind of strange. They need the Deer population cut down, but charge us to do so.
A residental Fishing/Small game/varmint license is $24. This covers Coyotes, groundhogs, squirrel, rabbit, crow, frog, etc.
You can add a game bird stamp for $6
A firearm deer(Buck only) is $25
A bonus/antlerless(needed if you aren't hunting just horns) is another $25.
Basically, if you are just hunting for meat(or not even wanting a Buck) you have to spend $50 in tags/licenses.
Certian counties in the state allow so many bonus/antlerless licenses per person. Some allow up to 4 deer to be taken. You can move on to another county and take 4 more.
Black Powder season is the same price, but for either sex.0 -

Here in Georgia, I'm retired - so I get hunting and fishing
free, big game license free, free access to wildlife management areas, free migratory bird stamp. Also reciprocal hunt & fish with Florida.
And, to top it all off, the deer season is 3 months long and
the limits are 2 bucks and 10 does. Second buck needs 4 on 1 side.

Free where I hunt in TN. But then, all landowners in TN can hunt for free on their property! [8D] Extremely liberal limits on deer, as a matter of fact, there IS NO LIMIT on the number of does you can take. They are actually thicker than ticks on my farm. When they implemented that policy a few years ago, I was totally against it. Figured it wouldn't be long until all the deer were gone. But it hasn't happened. Still just as many deer running around now as there were then. 0 -

I also am in SC, but I don't get the Sportsman's license 'cause I don't hunt Game Management land so Mine is only $25.00 + $20.00 for 4 doe tags. 0 -
I don't need a hunting license for anything. I am the land owner and therefore exempt from the requirement on my land. 0 -
...Resident Combo hunt/fresh water fishing license $47. Combo hunting/salt water fishing $52. Combo hunting/all water $57.
...Then you have waterfowl stamps to buy, Tarpon tag etc., etc.
...All hogs, yotes etc., no season no license required.
...Sandhill crane requires a stamp endorsement but the stamp is free, just need to pick it up at TP&W office.
All expire last day of August each year rather you buy it the day before the last day of August or if you buy it the first day they become available in Sept.
...Non-resident hunting $300, and of course applicable stamp endorsements apply as well. There is a 5 day non-resident hunting and fishing permit available...I think they run about $50 each.
...Now if you want to shoot a pronghorn, get ready to dump some $$$$ as the landowners get X amount of pronghorn permits and sell them for some MAJOR $$$$!
...THEN ([:D]) there are Wildlife Management areas that are a draw only...and ther're fantastic! About $40 bucks a person and there are 4-5 names per app, only paid if you get drawn. Three day hunts. IF you don't get drawn and you apply every year, you accrue points for the next year that in some way up your chances of getting drawn the next time. If you don't get drawn one year, you accrue points each year, and sooner or later you do get drawn.
...I always put in for javelina and deer on the Elephant Mountain area about 50 miles south of Alpine, Texas, about 90 miles North of Big Bend...and from the top of Elephant mountain you can see Big Bend Park, God's country; I LOVE high desert country!
...ALWAYS get drawn for the javilina hunt...never got drawn for the deer. I had 5 years of accrued points (getting close!) and the azz wipes moved the registration window up a month and I didn't know it, and I lost all my points, dang it![B)]
...It's well worth the $40 bucks or so to just go and camp at Elephant Mountain, during the winter hunting season it can be snow and 10 below zero, and in a couple of days..sunny and in the 40's, so you need to be prepared for whatever, it's awesome, beautiful country....and out the OTHER side of the boonies! If they had not exploded the atom bomb at Los Alamos, they could have done it here!
...Black/Mexican bear have moved up the mountain range up into the area, lots of mountain lions, Blue quail, Rio Grande Turkey and BIG Mule deer, BIG. I went on a javelina hunt and the week before a guy that had a deer permit shot a 17 pointer, big big big, in body too!
I, without a deer permit dang it, have sit and watched 10-14 point bucks I don't know how many times, 50 yds away, and could not shoot!!![:0]
...Then there are APH permits (license requirements still pertain) that you can get which list the location and all details of ranchers that that have joined a program which TP & W sponsors; and you are allowed to hunt the ranchers land, free. In return for allowing access to their ranch land the ranchers are helped by TP&W biologist and the department to manage and improve wildlife habitat, a win win situation. After you get the permit you get a catalog that's about 50+ pages listing all contact info and all you need to know to contact the rancher and set up your hunt/access to the ranch.
...Lifetime resident hunting is $600 I think.
...After I decide I didn't like duck and goose hunting, I used to buy the waterfowl stamps anyway and put them up, hmmmm. I wonder where all those are...[;)]
