I like Mardis Gras. I spent three days with a blonde gal, New Orleans native, that my brother hooked me up with.
    Very enjoyable time!
    Love that crawfish etouffe, to.

No thanks, I'd rather they stay in Houston.
We got some of your Mexicans, which I'm sure you complained about before Katrina, but the Mexicans work.
    Thanks anyway,

I've always personaly thought Katrina was God's way of starting a cleansing process, he's just not done yet.

However, every visit I've had the food was superb and all the booze was satisfying.

That being said, they need to get their poop together and quit whining about the feds helping them out, its been a corrupt bunch for 50+ years.

Valid point, and I agree, but the problem is that people are living in other states and still voting in New Orleans elections. Nagin used that support to get re-elected, his Chocolate City comments got the out of state voters all excited.
I do not see the same thing happening in the state wide election for Governor. Blanco is out of there.
As for the whining for federal dollars, lots of money has been said to be coming to New Orleans and Louisiana, but not all that much has gotten here.
I live out side the City, on the Northshore, but I have many friends and family down there and it is very stressful living. Mardi Gras gives us a break.
The City is going to change, some good and some bad, but many square miles are still a waste land. It's kind of erie.

I never much liked NO, but I like the food, the music and phideaux4886 proves there are some good folks there. I still would have voted to let the river take it, as it will one day anyway, but glad you had a good time!
