    damn, I say damn.
I got bit on the bottom of the foot years ago and thought that was bad, but I think I'd take two of those to the one of yours.
    Best of Luck
But by chance did you ask the Doc if he could relieve the pain and leave the swelling[;)]

Couldn't you find anyone to suck the venom out or did they just tell you that you were going to die?

Sure it's a spider bite and not the clap? Just kidding. I guess I'm lucky. I don't have to worry about getting bite there.

You're not out of the woods there girl. I have an exwife that that was bitten on her dooie by a centipede. She lived in KY at the time and it was very painful according to her. I guess it gave her a fat lip?

Holy crap.... I sleep with my hands under my pillow and woke up with 4 or 5 bites on each hand the other day. Glad it didn't get my face.

I've been bit a few times by spiders. Once, while mountain biking, I got into a whole nest of them. Had a dozen or so spider bites all over my legs. It was a fun trip to the E.R.

I got bit about four weeks ago. My left arm swelled up about double in size. Wife got a ton of Benadryl in me and was ready to hit me with my EpiPen. What sucked is that evening I had a major presentation to give to my professor on behalf of my team. So, my wife was trying to "sober" me up for it.

I informed my team and immediately apologized in advance to them and my professor (it was a web conference), explaining what happened and promising that I wasn't drunk.

Hope you get to feeling better soon! I know a guy who was stung by a wasp on the end of his pecker one time (it stung him through his pants). He swole up really, really bad! Said his wife kinda liked it![:I]

Heard something about soaking the effected area with vinegar immediatley after being bitten. Anyone know if this is true?

    Disclaimer; Your mileage may vary.
Bird hunting friend tells that when one of his dogs gets snake bit, he will use the dog collar to shock the area of the snake bite, and has very little necropsy of tissue. Supposedly the high voltage neutralizes the venom.
Same friend was bitten by spider between index and middle finger on one hand. He had his wife assist in using the dog collar trick on his hand. (long humerous story) [:D] In a week his hand was healed.
A cattle prod would probably do the same. [xx(]

Can't be pleasant. Still, having been stung in the eye (not lid, read that, eye) by a bee, I think I'd take your pain in stride....even if most unpleasant.

I pay Orkin $29/month to spray inside and out- no spiders here.[;)]

Outside, I try to keep the family jewels protected. I got bitten on the foot once: OUCH +2 zillion. You have my sympathy.

Around 1975 I was riding my motorcycle (a 1970 750 Honda if you want to know) on a country road when I suddenly began to experience a terrible burning sensation in my groin. Looking down, I saw a bee on the crotch of my jeans. I'd hit him at 50 MPH and he'd stung me in response... right through my jeans into my scrotum (which has to be the funniest word in the world).

Within seconds I was in agony. I pulled off into a gas station and staggered into the rest room. The swelling was amazing and all I could think to do was soak the affected area in cold water.

So, there I am... standing at the sink in the gas station men's room with my pants down around my ankles, my genitals bobbing in a sink-full of water, when some guy walks in needing to use the facility. He takes one look at me, freezes, and then turns and walks out.

I don't blame him. It must have been a pretty horrible sight.

After about 10 minutes things were almost back to normal which is my usual reaction to bee stings, immediate swelling and burning that dissipates after a few minutes.

A Vietnam vet friend told me about a guy on patrol who was bitten on the BallPark Frank by some blood-sucking insect that injects anti-coagulants to promote the blood flow and after several hours of unsuccessfully trying to stem the bleeding they had to calla medi-evac chopper for him.

"You got a purple heart for WHAT?"

788-308 sorry to tell you but that electric shock neutralizes venom myth was thoroughly debunked almost 100 years ago, but like a lot of myths it seems to have a life of its own. A history of electroshock and tests proving it worthless have been published in the past 20 years. Electric shock does NOTHING to neutralize venom, and could be dangerous if time is wasted with stun guns and truck batteries while actual medicine is ignored. Antivenom is the only way to neutrilize venom, bringing problems of its own, it should be administered only in a hospital.

Dogs are highly resistent (more so than people anyway) to snake and spider venoms. I knew an old hound that got rattlesnake bit every spring, crawled under the porch for a week, came out looking like very slightly warmed over death, ate and rested for a week and then went hunting. He never got bitten again. Until the next spring. Glad your friends dogs are ok, but the elecroshock had nothing what ever to do with it.
