Stopped for a snack....
We were out riding the quads today and decided to take a break. Stopped in a wash, having a drink and a bite to eat and this rattler just slithers right by us and gets under my wifes bike.
He chilled there for about 15 minutes and then went into a packrat nest. Didn't pay any attention to us hardly at all.

I'd guess that he was busy doing what snakes usually do and had no interest in threatening or being threatened.

AZ9J.....Great photos. [^][^] I didn't get to go to the desert on my recent trip back home to Yuma like I would have liked. I grew up in the washes and sure miss it. I'm glad you let the little critter live. [^][^]

Unusually large number of rattle segments for a wild diamondback. Looks like a captive. The average number of segments is 7, while this guy looks to have 11 or 12. Turns out the maximum volume of buzz is generated by rattles of 7 segments. Funny how that works out. This guy must have an easy life. 0
